Broodmother damage
So we tried Beta Broodmother on official pve just now and all got killed :P I read they changed the damage on the bosses, any ideas on the change?

Our rexes weren't the best but not bad ones either. All 20k hp and on average 750% melee. We took in 19 rexes with 5 riders plus 1 yuty+rider, which I thought would be good to make it a nice fight. Think 3-4 had journeyman (85 armor) saddles, the rest primitive (29 armor)I think we could have killed the spidy if we were ablt to maintain doing damage for the duration of the arena fight, but after around 8 minutes the rexes started dying. Although it was fun I would like to know if we just need better dinos, better saddles, other dinos, more plp? Any ideas?

Hmm, we have found broodmother a bit more difficult the last couple of weeks, but havent lost any rexes. Used to take around 3 minutes for a kill with 2 of us using 19 rexes and a yuty.

Our last kill was this previous weekend, took around 5 minutes and a couple of rexes were heavily wounded with only around 6-8k health left. The rexes we use have 35-38k health and 608 - 620% ish damage.

Your rexes have more damage than ours and yet it seems we kill it 3 minutes faster.. not sure how that happens? Do you control the other Rexes well, or let them do there own thing? Also do you have 100% imprint for 30% extra damage on ridden ones?

I would recommend your next breeding session spending more points in health and a bit less in damage, but as for the fight, other than what i have mentioned above i'm not sure why you wiped.

Oh btw we did this on medium difficulty, what was yours on?

I am on official PVE, did the Beta Broodmother (medium). I will take your advice to heart on the leveling distribution, putting more points in health and less in damage. Maybe getting to 25khp and 650% melee. Most rexes were 50-80% imprinted, I can't (don't want to) to better than that so I may need to get better base stats :) Previous weekend was before 262 I think, so it may have changed after your last try?

We will try the gamma broodmother this week again. Last time we did Gamma we killed it in 4-5 minutes too with only 12 rexes, 3 riders, no yuty and no significant damage to the rexes..

I've seen more people reporting about the bosses being more difficult after the latest changes to them. We haven't tested, so can't say for sure, but here's a thread I read on reddit yesterday (scroll down and you see the Island being mentioned as well): https://www.reddit.com/r/playark/comments/6nf13k/patch_v262_center_boss_damage_reduced_by_33/

Yeah, the patchs notes suggest a nice change for the Centre bosses, reducing the damage output compared to the Island bosses. But I guess their "scaling to server difficulty" might be related to an increased damage output on all bosses? Since I hadn't done Beta Broodmother before I can't tell if the latest patch changed it, but reading the experiences of others I suspect it has.

Rexes are only really good as tanks, for damage dealers i really suggest you to use Allosaurus, have a yutirannus whit rider,2 rexes whit mate-boost bred and skilled ONLY in healt and the rest allosaurus, all skilled to have around 12k hp and 800% damage, they melt the brood mother healt since they deal damage based on target's max hp whit the alpha attack, just be sure to buff everyone as fast as you can, have the rexes engaging first then unleash the allosaurus.

Bleed doesn't work on the bosses and I wouldn't suggest using allos due to their base hp being too low. They might work better in sp, but on multiplayer they just don't have enough staying power from my experience.

Not sure if I agree, no problems before last patch and even last time the rexes seem to have dealt enough damage to kill it in maybe 1-12 min. Problem for us was the damage dealt by the spider, maybe due to the rexes not being leveled properly or an increased damage value for the boss since last patch..

Have you managed to kill the beta broodmother before, or was this your first try?
JohnnieWbl Jul 16, 2017 @ 5:35am
First try for Beta. Only did Gamma before.
You forgot the Daodon Pig Priest!

Yes that might be it, although breeding 18 good rexes and having a yuty and a daodon sounds a bit much for medium spider..?

As far the results on my tests a pig and nothing its almost the same.

Yeah it heals, but you lose dmg. I got close to kill it, put a pig in for the next round of testing with the exactly same rexes and it was worst.

Well normally if you use the pig you have higher damage rexes over health (not an extreme difference but usually about another 100% to 200% more melee balances it out and provides and added measure of safety

I'v personaly fought gamma, beta and alpha spider/monkey/dragon on unnerfed settings.

Average grouping for spider is:
18 trexs with atleast 40k hp and 500% melee.
1 yut.
1 pig healer.
2-8 people.
If resources mean nothing to you then you can use 250% pump action shotguns as well as the shotguns should deal close to 1k damage a bullet as long as all pellets hit.

Other then trexs the only creature that i'd ever suggest taking for damage is a therizinosaur with cakes,
mix in the pigs healing and they survive decently add in imprinting and their damage far surpasses the trexs just with less health (tho you will most likly lose them on the alpha fight).

Also the patch rebalanced it as gamma and beta were baby easy and alpha was physicly impossible without exploits (she killed my 50k hp trexs in 30 seconds flat)
so they made beta alittle stronger and alpha a fraction it's original strength.

For monkey the same setup works but you cant ride ur dinos as he instantly kills you if your mounted near him thus normaly need to shoot him with assualt rifles while at a distance.

Dragon....assualt rifles and know atleast half of the dinos you take in will die no matter what tho to minimize deaths keep the dinos spread out on neutral until you order them to attack.

All up the boss fights push breeders and crafters to the limit if you get a 250% blueprint and manage to craft it with high crafting to get the 33% extra that item you got is worth it's weight in items/eggs.
