ARK: Survival Evolved
Best And Safest Spawn Locations On Ragnarok???
I have been searching all over the website and couldn't find anything to support my question. I play Ark: Survival Evolved on PS4 so, Ragnarok hasn't come out yet until the 29th so I just want to know what spawn locations are the best starting areas on Ragnarok the new free DLC map.

highlands E is the best starting location.
rocarrots grow naturally, theres horses you can tame right away, also tons of ovis for hide / mutton for your first tera, also your 2 steps from the scar wheres theres mantis for your tera saddle...youre welcome...and theres quite litterally no hostile creatures
Yeaaahhhh, about that, the scar is filled with dragons and a dragon can just come out of the pit and destroy everything it sees. That would be really bad...
I spawned at Viking bay 2. It's a great location and you can even find little crates in the water and stranded at the beach sometimes. You can attack those for loot. Pretty neat.

What is not neat are these giant fish that destroy your rafts and the Alpha-T-Rex that spawned in.

Ok I found that highlands E has been the most popular choice among the people so far, I'll give the question a little while longer just so I know that it's the best spot so far.

I guess you missed the part where several of us pointed out that giga spawn in the highlands?

I understand the spawn rates are pretty low on MP servers but you just need 1 to come along and ruin your day.
I love the highlands so far. No gigas in 3-4 wipes for some reason. So they're certainly not common whatsoever. Although im in scotland/elysian flow/upperhighlands near a waterfall between highlands and redwood trees. Insanely good spot and most resources are pretty abundant while not blocking any nodes.

+1 for carrots
+1 for savoroot
+1 for ovis to tame carnos fast
+1 for Equus for nice speed and weight
+1 TONS of metal around the area, but a bit scattered
-1 for allos (they feel outa place tbh or just spawn in the weirdest spots)
-1 for gigas but how common are they? the world may someday know soon or something similar

You need to be lvl 10 to tame an equu ;)
edited, thanks.
Highlands is really easy. Only predators are occasional allosaurs. Mostly just equis, ovis and diplos
Do NOT go Highlands. It takes one Giga to kill everything you have and destroy everything you own.

There are two caves in the highlands that can be used as a base, and an abandoned lighthouse way up on the hill where Gigas and Allos never go, my base on Ragnarok is actually the abanoned lighthouse, I built a little inside of it and built a wall around it to keep my pets safe, not a single time has anything even remotely nasty came for a vist.
Yes there is a Giga spawn there, but they normally keep to themselves, and as soon as you're into metal you can build a Giga trap, or even just a high enough tower to safely shoot from to either tame or kill any Gigas that you're uncomfortable with hanging around the area...... I've found Highlands extremely easy to deal with as a starting location and very safe as a base location IF you know where to build.

Not to mention... if you want to get the Unicorn, having your base at the Higlands pretty much ensures that you will atleast see one if someone else hasn't tamed it already.... wide open field and the only place on Ragnarok where the Unicorn will spawn.

I like the Highlands despite the occasional Titan, Wyvern or Giga (if i remember right i read once that Gigas share their spawn entrie with Allos, so every X Allo you kill a Giga will spawn instead, don´t know if that´s right though) but for me it´s way to little wood there to start a base.
Viking Bay seems to give you everything, wood/stone/metal, pearls and oil in the water, oil veins in the snow, obsidian is also near, you can even farm black pearls easily in the bay. Also there´s a huge variety of Dinos to tame which you´ve got not at the Highlands.
A little late but +1 for Highlands.

When you spawn, run on the beach to the east and try to see the abandonned lighthouse.
Then you'll find a little river falling into the sea. Follow it (direction south), you'll find a stone bridge. Continue and you'll find a sort of little lake with small white cliffs. Get around the cliff by the right and continue following the little river. You'll find a large empty cave. I made my base here. Don't build at the bottom of the cave, there's a metal spawn.

You have carrots in front of the cave, water in the cave, only 1 entrance easily defensible (i made a dino gate with walls around).

I have 2 gigas but easily avoidable, 1 on the beach near the lighthouse, he never moved and have difficulties to climb up to the meadows, 1 other at the west of the great rocks at the south of the cave, but this one stay in this zone and can easily be pulled away by sacrificing you and a equus and run run run run :D

You also have lots of metal spawn, the trees in the southern forest gives tons of wood (~ 100 - 150 with a stone axe). When you run to the east, there's a kind of field with a lot of carrots and savoroot, and you can take them all, they respawn ^^^

On the beach you have some dead Basilosaurs that give you a lot of rotten meat, and some hide and oil.

Under the lighthouse, there's a large cave where you can easily put your water dinos, easily accessible by following the cliff from the bottom.

Sorry for my bad english. I hope this can help new players.
Between Blue Obelisk(jungle 1) and Viking bay) is good for several reasons.

1. 3 spawn spots for starting crates: swords pikes metal hatches, flint, spears, shields, crossbows and sometimes picks.

2. Along the coast area there(stone dome for example) are relatively easy and safe places to set up small camps then later expand into bases. Outside of a dilo or ichyornis or compy's you usually see nothing stronger.

3. Resources are very abundant: trees berries dodos or similar for meat, rocks, and lots of metal. Further up the ridges there are crystal and even obsidian spawns but you also encounter more difficult dinos on your way up there so be careful. Rareflower nodes are also pretty common and the crystals of course give small amounts of mushrooms.

4. Easy to build spaces for water pens for eventual water dinos that the spaces can fit even squids.

5. Lots of supply beacon drops from white to even red in the area.

6. Temperatures are reasonable for the most part. Sometimes a cold or hot spell will happen but survivable for the most part(unlike the highlands for some).
Yeah i spawned in viking bay and i always see carnos, rexes, raptors, terrorbirds, once even a fire rex and some argies

He probably saw an alpha.
They have this weird orange smoke-aura around them, indicating that they are special.
Wouldn't be the first time someone mistook it as fire from afar.
Highland's only issues is the cold, allosaurs and gigas. Wyverns don't stray too far from their trench.
