Best And Safest Spawn Locations On Ragnarok???
I have been searching all over the website and couldn't find anything to support my question. I play Ark: Survival Evolved on PS4 so, Ragnarok hasn't come out yet until the 29th so I just want to know what spawn locations are the best starting areas on Ragnarok the new free DLC map.

When you first see the spawn selection screen it will tell you which locations are beginner friendly and what not, similar to how the Center and SE do it.

Having said that, Viking Bay is listed as beginner and I have seen an Alpha Rex roaming around there in addition to plenty of Carnos and Rex's. They don't spawn there obviously but they wander down from the Mountains above.

I find jungle 2 to be the safest spawn location.

Viking Bay, just go up to the cliff near the beach, build a fence or wall there and you will be fine. There is even a little pond there with a tree, looks really nice and beautiful.

Oh and don't panic if you see a rex or something down the small cliff, they can not get up to you unless they go around a path which the Ai just can not handle, instead they just try to go up the cliff but can't, then you could tranq them from above even if you wanted. Got a rex very early that way.

The Rocks on Viking Bay are pretty save and nearly everywhere are unpopulated caves to build in

highlands E is the best starting location.
rocarrots grow naturally, theres horses you can tame right away, also tons of ovis for hide / mutton for your first tera, also your 2 steps from the scar wheres theres mantis for your tera saddle...youre welcome...and theres quite litterally no hostile creatures

Highlands E is in my opinion the best for beginners. But if you play on a slightly modified servers it won't be hard settling at viking bay imo. But highlands has metal spawns close to beach and vikingbay doesn't if I remember correctly.

Viking bay is loaded with metal.

Viking Bay 2 Is the safest spawn for me. Every time I've spawned on Viking Bay 1, I've been snagged by a Dilo before the spawn animation even ends. Nowhere is really safe and it's possible that a passing predator will chomp you before you can even get up anywhere on the map.

TBH, the spawn animation should be interrupted if you're attacked or hostiles are already aggroed to you.

Hell, what's with my arm, it itches like hell.
Oh, to hell with what's on my arm, what's that coming toward me?
Time to get out NOW! I'll deal with that thing on my arm later.

I would think that what's making your arm itch would be the least important thing for you when there's something with big and nasty looking teeth coming toward you.

Especially if you respawn, you've seen the implant probably more than once already.

Either that, or a respawn timer of 60 seconds where you are ignored by any dino would be better. That gives you 60 seconds to get orientated and get to a safer spot. Bad enough that it's dangerous as hell for a player when they spawn in naked and unarmed without having half a minute of animation where you can't do a thing.

Hehe yeah I was thinking it was weird someone recommended highlands early on in this thread. I wouldn't build anywhere near giga spawns.

Another vote for highlands E. With Carrots + Equus you can get

* A fast creature
* Enough weight to carry a LOT of stuff
* Equus works as refri, retarding spoiling time for all food
* Enough power to know out most creatures, doing taming easier
* You can easily kill Ovis, best meat to tame carnivores
* Carrots + Potatoes so you can tame herbs
* In-land water
* High grounds to build your base

You can do this early like level 10

Ok I found that highlands E has been the most popular choice among the people so far, I'll give the question a little while longer just so I know that it's the best spot so far.
