game download keeps dropping to 0mb/s and slowing pc down like ♥♥♥♥

basically when downloading the game, the download speed drops to 0mb/s every now and then but it doesnt drop slowly it just cuts out like ym internet got disconnected. also slows my pc down so much. its not a pc issue, im running an i7 7700 and i can download any other game and not have this issue. it only happens with ark.

That can happen with lots of games, normally its them processing some of the files/installing the files that are already downloaded in batches.

Well its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ whatever it is and if that is the case then do you not agree that the game devs need to address this at once? i would refund the game if this happened when i was downloading it for the first time. its going to take the entire day for me to download a game i could have downloaded in an hour on my internet speeds.

Not at all, as I said lots of games do this, you will see the internet speed go down and disk usage go up, remember this game is nearly 100gig installed the potential for something to go wrong is higher if downloaded all at once, doing it in batches cuts down the risk overall and install times would be roughly the same as uncompressing 100gig of files and installing takes a long time.

Just think of it as 100gb in 100 x 1gb rar files each one being decompressed and installed to save any errors in data packets. If it happened in one batch there is potential for it to go wrong and possibly would mean you having to redownload the whole game again, where as this way it would only need to redownload one small batch file of 1gb.

system requirements say 20 gb needed i think or whatever but definately say less than 50gig needed. if its 100gig they need to say

Always restart steam if that starts, at least I do, but If i am going to restart, might as well switch servers.

Best way to fix it, switch servers. Go to Settings, Downloads, and Download Region and select another region close to you. Fixes it for me. I think it's just a lot of traffic on that server. I have to switch back and forth every few days.

MY FIXXXX!!!!!!!!!

what happened to me is I played the game one day and when I got on the next day my game was uninstalled and I had to reinstall it. When I went to do so my game was downloading it at 0 MB a second and it said it would take days to download it. I fixed this buy going into my steam folder finding the game and deleting the game files. Now my game is downloading at my normal speeds.

I tried everything to fix it and this was the only thing that worked. I tried locating the files in the properties and that didn't work. I tried to restart my router. I tried to restart my PC. I tried everything a person could think of and this is the only thing that relatively worked to fix it
