Tips on how to find a lost Griffin on Ragnarok

So flying around got sneak attacked by a Wild Wyvern and died by burning after killing it. The griffin survived but it's not where I died and I've spent the last 2 hours flying around like crazy trying to find it with no luck. Tribe log doesn't say it died so it is still alive somewhere. Any tips on how to track it down (working mods or otherwise)? It has a transponder (or did) but it's not showing a location...

I usually fly a grid low and press 'all follow' (J) whistle. I don't sprint and keep looking out for the animal to respond. Sometimes though, I have found them up high by the overhead boarder but that is only if they were engaged in combat with another flyer. Since you took out the Wyvern before death, odds are, it flew a ways before landing. Or, worst case, vanished through some bug. I would fly a grid pattern around while whistling 'all follow'.

Play on an unofficial server that uses the petfinder mod or make sure you have transponders on your pets.

However, there is a remote possibility that it glitched above/out of the map boundaries (sky or ground or waterwise) and it is trapped there with no way to retrieve. Also too some of those times the game will purge such a dino and you wont get a message that it died(since the game doesnt seem to count a deletion as a death).
