Trouble finding Obsidian on lower part of the island

Game play : Single Player, no Mods

Accourding to the resource map there should be Obsidian on the south side of the island.
I Know what it looks like, but I can't find it. Have been in the lower south cave plenty of times, and the surroundings above ground, but nop, nada, zip...
It should be there, right? So where is it? Inside the cave? A logic place would be where the hunter artefact is, but there I only found metal.
Any suggestion that points me in the right direction would be apprciated.

That's should link to a map with the locations on although there's none south. I normally goto the volcano or there's a big hill with tons on near the blue obelisk which also has a lot

Thank you Tombs, but there is an official resource map clearly stating that Obsidian is available on the south part of the island. I found it today... just had to take a dive in freezing water inside the cave... its completely safe to do so, but man is it cold!

For most, is simply more practical to gather obsidian from the volcano. Yes flying is required but since you're playing a single player game, that shouldnt be an issue. Even better, you can just make a mini base at the volcano to process the ore obsidian crystal etc there to then craft items to take back to your main base.

If you wanted to make this even easier there is 1 simple mod you can add to your single player game (Teleport pad) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=760067652 which will allow you to teleport you and any dino in the pad area to another pad of the same name. So set one at your base to go to the volcano and you dont even have to make a mini base.

Just remember with either the mini base making or the teleport pad laying at the volcano, that you'll want to set it away from the resources so that you dont lose them respawning later.

Where on the southern island is this cave? Im only finding incomplete maps online and I don't know how correct each is. and I don't know where any cave is because my luck with expiration leads to near or to death Ive gone into the game blind and Im doing pretty good but I've not done any Dino taming so travel is hard.

the only obsidian down south is in caves, when in the cave it's underwater

Obsidian sux, go for organic polymer
