The key phrase being "solitary creature" is the polar opposite of how they are in game. I frequently find myself fighting three, four, or five of these big a-holes at a time because I walked within 20 yards of one. Their attack also seemingly ignores your saddles armor rating since they do the same damage to my argent whether its wearing a 25 armor or 117 armor saddle. These things should be as rare as the Procoptodon on the Island and they definitely shouldn't be spawning on the southern beaches. Rexes dont spawn there so noobs can last more than 15 seconds, but by adding these in such huge numbers, any notion that the southern beaches are safer for noobs is no longer valid.
Trex doesn't ignore armor. Wild rexes hardly do any damage to my argie with 117 armor saddle yet these stupid things manage to hit for 10x as much.
They essentially provide all of your non-aquatic needs.
Meat? Leather? Prime meat? Berries? Wood? Thatch? Chitin? Fiber? Keratin? Yep. And they're hella bulky and strong on top of that. I have three, myself. Their utility and muppet fluff are hard to resist..
I've seen a stone bear trap.. trap with pillars used, as well, in a video, but seems like that'd take some planning, moreso than running through trees lol.
