1/14/2017 Taming BONUS RIP OFF (Ammended)

This weekend 1/14/17, there is a x1.5 evolition event. In light of the fact that week days are now x2 Taming, everyone has interpreted this as being (1.5 x 2) it is not, it is in fact (1.5 x 1) a reduction from our usual weely X2 Multiplier. Whether this is a ♥♥♥♥ up in the code or intentional, it really pisses me off.

Heres how I found out. Upon checking Dodorex taming calc I realised that my 125 Doedicurus would take 3.5 hours to tame, I thought ok, what is that from the normal X2, upon which the calculation revealed that at x2 my tame would take 2.6 hours. Which really does not add up. So I asked some people more familiar with the calculator about it and they said the calculation for 3.5h was correct. still, the numbers did not add up for me, if 1.5 x 2 = 3, why was the taming calculator giving me a value higher than that of a x2 multiplier?

So I went a step further and calculated 1.5 x 1 against the x1 multiplier expectancy for my tame. And there it was the answer I had gotten from Dodorex which was pre-calculating the taming event stats 3.5 Hours.

What really pisses me off about this is that rather than having my taming reduced to 1.7 hours with a x3 multiplier as had been done previously, this weekend my taming time had been increased from 2.6 hours to 3.5; thats a whole hour more than regular taming throughout the week.

To confim if this was the truth for server or just the calculator, I fed my tame at the 1.7 mark, which at a x3 multiplier would have completed the tame: This only completed a little over 1/3 of the tame, thus indicating that on 1/14/17 everyone trying to use the weekend taming bonus got royally screwed.


Ammended, People have informed me that the wikki is using x2 stats and not x1. Therfore these calculations are wrong. So, Disregard this post.

2x is now default at 1x

Correct. the new base rate is already baked into the calculator.

And, I even noticed that when you put in 1.5, it pops up a note saying 1.5x weekend. Fancy. :)

How many times do I have to state that I am using the old x1 base rates, not the updated x2 rates. I Double checked using th Ark wikki which is still using x1 base rates, its still the same as it was when I first tames a lvl 10 doed on x1 at 1 hour 30 mins on berries.

That means the wiki has not been update to reflect the changes. And if you are using the old stuff, that means your math is way off.

Dododex agrees with the wiki on rates.
Dododex has been updated to reflect the new base rate that is x2 the old base rate.
Therefore, the wiki has been updated to the new rates.

This even bears out on the numbers you posted earlier.

agreed. my spreadsheet was never updated to reflect the new base taming rates. if i plug in your information (level 10 doed) i get 1.5 hours with a 2x multiplier. that means wiki is updated. you are wrong.

At the old base rate, a level 120 doed would take 11 hours on a berry tame. Holy fishies. I am glad we always had our server at x2 from the start. :)

@radent2011, @tanek, thankyou for checking against stats, I am glad to hear that the Wikki is the same as servers. However it does not state so anywhere on the page that a x2 multiplier is being used.

That is because it is the new base rate. It just is what it is. We'd all be better off just referring to the new base rate as x1 and the old as x0.5.

In any case, I am glad that is sorted out. Good luck on the tame! :)

@tanek, I was mostly just really concerned that something had gone horribly wrong. I am glad that it hasn't and that everything is working the way it is meant to. And I agree oin the new as X1 thing, much less confusing.
