What happend to the release date?

According to Google, searching ''ARK release date'' gives me straight up 16 december 2016.

I looked the game on steam today on january and it's still early access? What happend?
Care to explain wtf just happend from outside perspective.

ARK is one of the best ''early access'' I've bought so far and I have no regrets. The game will for sure be released one day (pls don't get triggered at this sentence.) but be glad for what we have for now.

Long answer: Devs decided it was better to add more user requested content before releasing plus a few other minor things that arent really worth explaining.

The "New" release date is somewhere around March, April, May-ish. The upcoming patch will be one of the last content patches.

lol, ya they have missed several self set v1 dates.

the amount of ♥♥♥♥ they have planned to add let alone bug fixes and balance there new v1 date in 4 months is crazy. they cant even get an update out on time, so imo we will be lucky to have v1 by holiday 2017.

first planned release date: summer 2016. then fall 2016, then december 2016, now it's april 2017.

my magic crystall ball tells me that it will be summer 2017 after that and then fall and then.... well let's just see how much they will add & fix within the next 4 months.

Dont remember fall 2016 ever being a release date, pretty sure it just went from summer to december.

IIRC they are only adding one more big "thing" and that is the tek stuff. After that I believe they will start bug fixing and optimization.

Well they cant finish the game if they dont add ascension, thats the real big thing after TEK

ya people seem to think there is only a few things not in, there is a lot they do plan on updating after v1.

after v1 whatever they support the game will be on there dime.

Its a possibility? However, the scope and size of the game, including a ton more content, some good, some a waste of resources, will take more than 4 months of Beta phasing to fix bugs, glitches and optimisations. This is not even including the servers that will also need to be properly worked out, stress tested again with cleaner code to be up to par with a gold status release....It can be done, and I hope it will...but Im weary of that new release date and see more of a December 2017 to possibly a really early spring 2018. But thats my guesstimation, I hope Im proved wrong!
