Has Wildcard some connections with tracking sites like battlemetrics?
In recently updates they have fixed some steam names not showing properly, like using # or emoticon infront of name would result to show some kind of counter ingame steam name. This was a perfect way to make your profile untrackable. I see no other reason why they would have change that except that tracking sites wouldn't work with out. It doesn't affect gameplay by any means.

Suggestion: To be untrackable again, every player should change their name to one of the most common names in steam like ...

"untrackeable" do you realise that you currently use a platform called steam that assigns every user a unique steamID ? every gameserver that uses steam uses these IDs as authentification. you can rename you 100000000 times and you still connect with the same steamID which gets tracked by the server you're joining..

but you can't track players in ARK by steam id. Problem is that you can take the id up, search profile by it, see steam name, enter steam name in tracking site and if name is rare you can see what server the guy is playing on.

of course you can. here is the description how battlemetrics does it http://imgur.com/a/Nvttz

the steamAPI is free and every website or private person can use it. like already said: any gameservers connected with steam use the SteamID as authentification. you can extract that information either with a simple query to the server or with tools that do that for you. when a free website can do it, a private person can do the same

Mhh, I must be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ not to understand how this works, but battlemetrics won't track steam id, atleast not free version (which would strenghten my theory). What i've understood is that you can't get information about players that you can't get normally through steam. For example is player online, what game he/she plays, what server, friends ect.

But if what you said is true, player tracking should be really easy.

Your argueing what should be over what actually is........

Battlemetrics uses your current steam tag, not the same ID that Ark servers uses to recognize a steam account. If it was, Ark servers would forget your data every name switch. Like Battlemetrics does.

All in all you are wrong. Ark and Battlemetrics uses different source data for player to server recognition.

Arrogance is best when quickly proven wrong.......

@OP Your idea is completly correct. People should shift to using "...." in mass to fool the battlemetrics system and make your account untraceable.
