Advanced Tips for Single Player

Hi All,

I prefer to play this game in single player (please don't judge). I have so far established a couple of bases while playing on The Center map. The first one was just really my first base near the south east island spawn point. Was safe area, but not too good for gathering resources. Second one was on the shore across from the skull island. Not a bad place, but I got bored of it. My new base is pretty cool. It's various parts are located on top of two pillars on the eastern side of the big floating island.

So I need some advice now. I really really like my new base on the pillars, but getting large dinos is a problem. I can't use my Argevantis to carry them up since he can only carry small and medium dinos (and even then not all). And I can't very well leave them at the base of the pillars since there are lots of Rexes, Carnos, Sabertooth and skorpions there, the area is also not super even so building a dino holding area is not easy.

I have two ideas to resolve this.

1) I was thinking of building an elevator from the ground to the top of the pillars so that I can use it to bring larger dinoes up and down (such as stegos for example). But I'm not sure if that's possible since the pillars are pretty high up. Is there a max height for the elevator?

2) Building another base in another large area of the map. But I have not found a good one. Any suggestions?

P.S. Is there a way to build a bridge from one pillar to the other?

You can put a row of ceilings and single high pillars on the ground, and the game will consider them support for you to build a floating bridge above them.

I only play singleplayer too.. as cool as the multiplayer concept is unless i'm playing with friends or likeminded people.. most of the time other people just ruin the fun..

@Hermit, it would be good to have a Quetzal, but from what I read it's almost impossible to tame solo.

@JokingVortex, I like the challenge of making it on my own, and figuring out solutions using the tools that the game provides. So I prefer not to use console commands to get around the game limitations. But thank you for your suggestion.

@thutch, For same reason as above I try not to use mods. Although, I will admit to having installed pet finder mod to help locate my lost Argventis, after I accidentally went skydiving off of it without a parachute....

Hey man taming a quetz is fairly easy though you have to be aware of where its flying so when its knocked out where itll land.

All ya need is a flying dino that lets ya shoot while flying... There are a few but my favorite is the griffon!!!! They are soo awesome and useful.

How do you get a griffon you ask? a large bird cage of of pillars or stone doorways ya dont need the door.

Put a roof on it and use a large door leave a gap just big enough for your teradon to fly threw and the griffon wont be able to. Jump off your pteradon and leave it there to agro the griffon run around and close the door!

if he was he could just use pokeballs 1.9 beta best way to store limitless dinos in a way that saves ur cpu and ram while also allowing u to transport them easily.

Quetzal can easily be tamed using an argentavis and a scorpion set the scorpion to aggressive and pick it up and fly over the quetzal with the scorpion then follow it while the scorpion knocks it out of the sky

There are countless mods, weapons ect that can make taming a quetz a rather easy task or just exploit their hitbox by landing in their wing then just shoot down til it's knocked out there is 0 difficulty to it...

They are so easy to tame even without mods I don’t know why anyone would need a mod to tame them in single player

Like seriously a scorpion and an argy, or even just the standard rifle and tranq darts make it a cakewalk to tame
