ARK cant download DLC

My friend bought me ARK, i was enjoying the game so i decied to buy the DLC, when i went to do so Steam said i wasnt able to download the DLC because i "Dont have the game" guys Helpp!

You don't have the game in Steam. Were you playing on xbox or ps4? Or was your friend letting you play on family share?

my friend bought me it on steam as a gift on steam, this is a new account thats why i have 5.2hrs

she gifted me it and i accepted the gift

Then post here from the account that does have it. Or did you buy the dlc on the wrong account? You do not own the game on this account.

because you dont own the game.

log in into the steam account you received the game, family share doesnt count as owning the game.

go to account details, click on view licenses and product key activations

ark should be shown there as gifted.

go to support page and relate your case there.

A) the game can be seen there and for some reason is not at your account
B) the game does not show there

forgot to add, Steam is more than happy for me to buy the payable dlc but not downlaod the free ones, do you need to pay for the other DLC to get the free 3 ones?

So you don't have the problem you were saying if you can buy it. The free ones are free.

Just click the download button on the store page for the free one that you want, that will tie it to your account. But you have to be logged on with the account that owns the game, not your other account. After you click the download button go to your Steam Library to the ARK page. Scroll down about halfway and you will see a section there for dlc. Uncheck the checkbox next to the dlc, then completely exit Steam. Then restart Steam and go back to that dlc section and put the checkmark back into the box and it should start downloading.

Sharing has it's own set of rules for dlc, and it varies by game. From what I have seen some dlc's will work, some won't. Once you download the dlc to the main account it "should" automatically work with the shared account, but I am not certain.
