Are dupers being investigated or punished?

So many servers completely unplayable for weeks now. More annoying still many servers are completely missing out on the rare 2X breeding this weekend because servers are permanently under siege by DOSin dupers.

They do it because they know Wildcard are not coming after them. What a joke considering DOSin is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and they aren't even having their characters deleted.

Its so easy to trace too. All WC have to do is periodically query the DB for people that have thousands of tek structures and other high end items.

I've supported this game through a lot of problems because it has a lot of potential. If you cant get these little ****s under control then I'm out and will be actively letting everyone I know to stay well clear of this game and its developers.

Do you know what country these people live in that are "DOSin"? What laws apply in those countries? Do all countries put you in prison for 10 years for this? How does one country impose their laws on other countries citizens?

If you suspect someone of whatever you are talking about report and move on. Or find an unofficial server and play there.

At this point, despite their claims, a global wipe has to happen. Without it officials will stay ♥♥♥♥♥♥, especially with duping. Release would see big tribes with massive amounts of gear, enough to last them lifetimes. I'd say they plan on leaving it until release, where they will have fixed duping glitches and then wipe all officials. Punishments? Don't know. Here's hoping.

I'm not saying people need to be thrown in jail. I'm saying if a Denial of Service attack is serious enough to get you thrown in jail then the very least Wildcard should do is ban them from playing the game and delete all the items they duped.

What I'd actually prefer is if they disabled the whole cross ark feature while they fix duping and install appropriate DOS protection. Even my mum could DOS their servers they've made it so easy

The reality is neither action seems to be happening and dupers are ruining the game for everyone

Flooding the server with data enables the duping glitch to be carried out.

If the developers need time to set up DOS protection and / or fix the duping glitch, then they should disable cross ark travel on official servers so items cannot be uploaded. I would also make some examples of the worst offenders and ban them and pass on their details to local authorities. Otherwise more and more people will think it's acceptable, which is already what is happening. Its becoming an epidemic.

Same reason why most hackers use botnets, to expose/intercept/manipulate data packets?

None of the native tribes on our server are duping so I don't think we'd suffer a great loss of numbers getting rid of all the dupers.

The same people are performing DOS attacks on PVP to raid tribes and kill tames so I don't think they're exactly pillars of the community. Plus with all the new members coming for the official launch I don't think freeing up the server capacity wouldn't be such a bad thing either.

If they wipe the servers because they don't want to deal with dupers then that's it for me. I'm withdrawing my support for this game.

They need to wipe regardless of dupers. servers are unfair and messed up. And because of dupers, there's ♥♥♥♥ loads of illegal gear around. It's not just "we don't wanna deal with it" laziness, it's impossible.
Plus, no offense but they already have your money. Of course they want you to keep playing but...

Find the dupers delete the accounts, tribes and gear. Thats good enough.

If they want me to buy DLC. If they want me to buy merchandise. If they want me to recommend the game to my friends. If they want me to try future titles from these devs. Better fix the mess they made with cross ark.

I play on a PVE server and none of our core community dupe items.

Of course it's different on PVP where you have to lower yourself to meet the competition. If it's so widespread on PVP that litterally everyone has been duping then they should remove cross ark and wipe every PVP server.

On PVE I don't see why the majority should be punished because lets say 20% of the PVE players are duping. That's BS. They should find the 20% and delete and ban them.

DDoS protection is a myth... just saying, once you dive into the specifics of how the attacks are done, you quickly realize that you can't do that much. Imagine if I sent a command to have 10,000 email servers to send you the same email non-stop. Without actually turning off the server, or disconnecting from the internet... there would be no way to stop it. Anything you do will ultimately prevent legit important emails from getting through. Your service has been disrupted. The source of those email servers are all over the globe, and cannot be blocked by a single IP address. Just saying.

Oh and they do actively ban players who dupe and those who are in the same tribe as them since they benefit from the duping either by knowing or not.

Duping is very easy to spot, Ark has very well detailed server logs, it shouldn't be an issue for wildcard to find dupers. Items don't just magically appear.
