Best mount for Swamp?
I play Ark on both PC and Xbox. Currently I'm playing on the Xbox until I am able to upgrade my graphics card. I don't know if the different platforms have different answers. But which dino would be best in the swamp. I need to get plant species X, I need decently high torpor, hp and melee, and I Really don't want to be picked off by a friggin kapro. I've seen people say just use a flyer but if I get ambushed while I'm off my bird then "Ark happens" and all he11 breaks loose and I lose all my stuff and my bird. Plus I don't necessarily want to just be in and out quickly. I want to be able to defend myself with a good mount for a little while if needed. Also, I play on an official server so my rates suck.

I need some advice.

Thank You!

If you want a strong Flyer, then start with an Argentavis. After that Griffin if you can go at Ragnarok and Wyvern if you are able to breed one

For Land i would say rex for its HP or a strong Carno but i dont remember if they must swim at Deep swamp waters.

I would say Dire Bear, but they are able to be attacked by Kapros on sight.

Megatherium on the other hand, are considered "large" creatures, so Kapros will ignore you while on one. Also, their bug buff makes clearing out Meganera a breeze.

Allosaurus is the best land mount, and will be great for the swamp.

Rex, Paracer, Mammoth and Therizino are all good options. They are pretty tall so they would put you well out of the Kapro's reach (well maybe not the theri, but it has a great harvesting rate for those X seeds) and can fight well.

Rex > kapro can't knock you off and it's tall enough to handle bugs with big hit box which helps with leeches too just keep walking forward and attacking in water

I always use my Rex in the swamp, wrecks everything. Handy for taming dimetrodons in there too.

I created a macro to auto left click and I just turn that on and walk around the swamp vacuuming up the raw meat and hide.

Megatherium is decently strong, has decent health/torpor and is amazing at gathering chitin. You'll come accross snails and loads of bugs in the swam so assumuing you live, you'll have a ♥♥♥♥ tonne of chitin as a reward. It's also easy to tame. You don't even need to farm a stupid amount of Mejoberries, just break a bee hive (which are found in the redwoods as well as the megatherium) and tame it with the honey.
Also, he's adorable and fluffy and I don't think the gator can grab you off.

I'm seeing a few votes for a Rex so far lol. I have a 127 Rex. You think I'd be good? I've been playing on and off for about 2 years and still get nervous when I fly over the swamp lol. I've never spent any considerable amount of time in the swamp.

Yes.
I love my Allo for the swamp. Nothing will mess with you, just like a Rex, but it's smaller, and more agile than a Rex. It's stronger and far less clipping and getting stuck than a Carno.

What level is your Allo or what level Allo should I go for? I'm a fan of the idea of more agility than a Rex.

I think the bias towards Rex may be because fertilized eggs are heavily traded on MP servers so naturally you will take your strongest dino which is often a Rex or a Giga which also get traded a lot. If you don't have this sort of opportunity, I can see why a high level Allo would be just as appealing.

Always go for around the wild level cap if you can.

Say, the server i play on has wild dinos max level set to 150, so when taming i aim for 130+. Allo are better in packs so grab a couple in the long run.

There are a lot of great options, but if possible I'd stick with a carnivore over an herbivore. If you get swarmed by a few creatures and kill them with herbivores, you run the risk of having to jump off regularly to chop up the bodies you get stuck in.

Three+ Allo's = highest level being the alpha. It then can do % damage. It's actually a very powerful mount, you can kill a Titanosaur in two minutes with it and nothing else.
