Why is ARK suddenly nearly 100GB?

Just yesterday ARK had like 64 GB on my hard drive now it has 91GB. Can someone explain it to me, because the new update was like 2.4GB. I don´t get it? Where are the 27GB coming from?

Did you just download the Ragnarok dlc? Or did you already have it? My ARK with primitive plus and The Center has been around 70GB for a long time. Ragnarok added another 20GB to that total when I downloaded that dlc.

I had Ragnarok plus The Center. Just this morning ARK had 64GB overall and now 91GB. I don´t know why?

Mine is still the same 90GB it was after downloading Ragnarok when it came out. This patch didn't change it for me.

Strange I really had 64GB with Ragnarok and The Center. Now I only have 17GB free space :(

it appears they increased the base install size - i found this doing a 'clean' install

edit: the download itself shows only 20gb so who knows what it will end up - will post back

yet the store page still shows 40gb, that could almost be considered false advertizing lol

Except it doesn't really explain why you just caught up to where I was ever since Rag came along.. hmmm

Hmm. well i don´t know. Ireally had 27 GB less this morning in the
ark folder. hmmmmm.....

check out your mods folder if you play unofficial, they all add up over time and you can rack up 20gb of mods quite easy

When Ark is preallocating space it uses the twice or thrice of the amount the patch needs,it may be 1gb to download for example,but that 1 gb will increase when it gets extracted,meaning more space.

With each update Ark does,more and more space is consumed. I started at 70GB of Free space after Ark and all the Official maps minus Ragnarok was installed.

Now 5 trillion patches later Plus Ragnarok,i am at 37GB of free space on my SSD.

I dread the day it tells me i have to go buy a bigger drive.

yep just did a complete 'clean' install after unsubscribing to all my mods and deleting the Ark install directory.

The base install is now 92gb with no mods or addon maps and even no saves (may even need a bit more for shader cache when i actually start the game - we will see. I have yet to even start the game.

I only play Single Player, so when Ark is 90 GB as a clean new install, it explains the additional 27 GB, so... We have to deal with it i guess. What a pity.

my Ark Folder is near 140GB hahah omg
