Creature AI
Ok , I keep hearing that the DEVs said there would be no pathfinding or AI improvements.

First thing, Is this still a thing? and secondly if thats their attitude I have ZERO hope for this game. The "AI" is a joke. It is barely even a placeholder. I wouldnt even call this AI, its just basic "run at or run away" BS. The dinos do piss all to avoid objects in their way and instead try and run into it and slide around it.
With the way the new wheel works, quick actions with the whistles are now the ONLY way to quickly control your dinos, I understand thats always been the best way anyway and use it when possible. But the fact that sometimes the AI just flat out ignores me has now cost me a Quatz loaded with 3K in metal just flying in circles up untill it was out of sight and gone. I flew up to look for it and ended up loosing another cause the game freeaked out when I got too high and the bird just froze. Both birds gone in 5 min.

Good thing its MY server and I can roll it back, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The AI and pathfinding is a JOKE.
Trying to get around with slightly differant speed dinos is an exersise in frustration as they go and get stuck on every thing imaginable on even the simplest of trips.

Can Wildcard pull their heads out of their asses and work on the NON FUNCTIONAL AI and pathfinding? If not, I can see myself and everyone I play with on my server giving up cause its frustrating as hell to have days of work undone becuase there IS NO AI and "pathfinding"

i had a argent high level one nose dive into the ocean against a cliff once, it was trying to fly to me but kept flying downwards into the cliff, still have the memory burned into my mind year later. Went down into the blue abyss never to be seen again I don't remember what happened to it.

At one time they said the current Ai was just a placeholder. Now I think we are stuck with it.

Strange, it's been an hour since op's tread and still no comment from the fanboys club. I was expecting something in the line of " It's just our crappy PC's that the AI sucks" or something like that. aw well, think it's time to uninstall this ♥♥♥♥ and free some disk space

I actually thought nearly every system in game was placeholder. Mainly the drugging and then force feeding.....stockholm syndrome take on "Taming" I think every part of it is.....Garbage to say the very least. I thought that after some development time a propper system would be introduced. My idea on it should be that the only way to gain a Tame dino is you must first obtain a newly born dino. IE STEALING an Egg and raising it for yourself. I legit thought that was something they would do.

And now with the newly announced end of Early Access coming in August I fear we're stuck with all these ridiculous, Obvious placeholder systems. This game at it's current stage should have at least 2 more years of Beta/Alpha workings before even considering moving to the shelf.

yea... no thanks. oooohh theres a 150 (insert dino)!! awww havent found an egg yet.. :( or, ohhh theres and egg after 3 months of searching! awww only lvl 10 :( lol it can use some tweaking but im personally fine with this method of taming, doesnt have to be realistic, we are on an alien planet/ark/ecosystem after all :)

If it were done as a server setting that'd be cool, I know most people don't like working for things so settings and options are always a good thing.

Call it hardcore taming if you will.

Wow 3 days and no crazies telling my my pc is junk lol

Yah I have no faith in this so called "developer"
They are a glorified mod maker playing game development with the devkit. Nothing more.
I highly doubt anyone at wildcard has the Coding chops to write anything. Hence why so many of the games "systems" are stock ue4 with some reskins.

This game is a scam. Mod makers have done more work imo. Even the map is poorly designed, many of the user created maps look just as nice and run much better.

I hope it
Runs better in 2months but I have very little faith in these clowns.

Why the hell would people respond by saying your PC is junk when the issue is AI? Sure it could have hang-ups with unstable frames (such as a creature taking a while to aggro when it is very obvious it already should have), but it isn't that impressive to begin with. Mind you it isn't as bad as many are describing it, creatures will try and move around a lot of objects to get to you/their target (though it isn't perfect).

It depends on the animals. Some will move around and get by. Recently I have been using multiple rex's while trying to bree them, so I go out with several on a hunting expedition to feed the babies and invariably I end up losing a couple of them and then have to go back looking for them. They will get stuck on a tiny little obstruction that pushes against just one of their feet and they won't move. Not happy about that.

Honestly there is no ai.
There is the Dino's run at u, away from u and that's about it. I would be stretching to even call it ai. It doesn't do anything "intelligent"

That right there is one of the main reasons why epopel have avoided using land animals for large distance travel and instead used flying dinos for everyhting. The ai is possibly worse for fliers but there isnt anyhting in the air for them to randomly get stuck on. One of the main things in this game that always turned me away was the terrible dino ai I had been hoping after they added all teh dinos they would go through adn polish all the mechanics like make the building mechanics less clunky, make all the taming methods more polished adn less of a waiting game, and really polish teh breeding up. Shame they want to squander the games potential.
