Help building a Rex Pen!
Hey guys,

Looking at building a rex storage and breeding pen on one of my PVE servers, purely for the aesthetics and just to keep them together for breeding, raising for bosses etc.

Currently I've just built a load of foundations placed them down in a general rectangle shape, slapped a behemoth each end and then built 12-14 walls to match the gates. All in all not very exciting and just looks like a massive block of meh!

So I'm looking for any ideas/pictures of your own creations and buildings. Looking at raising Rex's for bosses and breeding so needs to be quite large. I did use the standard dino gates, but it just seems weird that the rex is bigger than the frame yet still fits through.

Any help would be awesome as I have demo'd and rebuilt it countless times now!

I have, on the side of my breeding room, 2 dinodoors and 2 high doorwalls (to get in and grap the egg ;) )... 1 for the male other for female... you don´t need behemoth for rex... btw i don´t like behemoth on bases ^^ only for get out my basefence i got behemothdoors

But seems funny using dino gates for Rex's as they struggle to get through sometimes! And they are bigger than the gate! Other idea was just to leave an opening and not use a gate? As this is a PVE build so more for aesthetics and keeping stuff together than protecting against raids

Ah that's pretty cool! May make that inside the general building. Is there any point using behemoth gates?

Purely aesthetic. They fit through normal, but it might look unpleasant / glitchy.

Never set them on wondering and leave, they will escape eventually (Ark preload dinos before structures, so soon or later you gonna lose them)
its not hard to enable wondering on all once a few days...

This is my pen idea (Males in the mid, Females all around):

Thanks man will check it out when I get on lunch! Yeah I prefer the behemoths but then you have to make walls 12-14 high and don't want to get huge lag around the structure and will take ages to convert to metal! I'm not worried about having to move them to breed etc, it's more just a massive rex foundation enclosure just for the aesthetic purpose really

2x4 foundations or floors, 'normal' gate (the 2x4 one) on one end, 4 high doorways as walls.

Put those next to each other and you're done. The doorway building blocks will let you freely move in and out, and the rexes can't get out.

Is this a joke? Behemoth gate spam is one of the ugliest things you can do in this game, aesthetics my ass, next you will say that the cubed bases look good.

What is all this going to cost in time anyways, 1 hour plus to farm mats, craft and place? Write a macro to spam U, 30 seconds, spend the other 59mins and 30 seconds actually building something aesthetically pleasing, not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ behemoth gates lined next to each other....vomit.

Dude, chill... I meant he could use Behemoth Gates as gates, not for the entire base. Learn to read. Some might find it not aesthetically pleasing to see a Rex glicht through part of a normal Dino gate, like I wrote before.
Take your anger issues elsewhere, possibly a place where they teach reading comprehension skills...

Well as I'm playing from a PVE POV as an admin on a pvp server, it's generally for the aesthetics I'm building. I mean I want to build a rex building where I can move them about etc not just a grid to farm breeding

Due to the Rex' turning radius, a building where they can freely move is going to be basically just a really large box.

Put your breeding rexes in their own tame group and on highest follow distance, and leave an anchor tame nearby. Mount anchor > whistle stop all > wait for the nasties to finish > whistle follow all > hop off anchor and gather up all eggs. Fast and easy breeding without a mess.
