Harvesting sap on The Island
Something I haven't done yet. Sounds like quite a bother. I try to avoid redwood biome dangers usually, and either need to put 2000 resources into building a wooden tree platform or need to build a wall 11 units high with a platform on top, if the wiki is to be believed. Any advice on the best way to get sap?

Fishing

Sap is an item fish drop, you can use honey as bait.

Destroy a Bee hive (5k HP) and once bees despawn there will be a bag of honey. Or just raid one and run.

that seems just as dangerous and time consuming as going and getting sap, once you have a flyer it's not much of a thing to take a platform out there and set it up for just that.

No. I'm happy to go to redwoods now that I have gained some levels, but I want to be efficient if I do go there. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Building a platform requires 2000 mats. Seems like a pretty big investment for a pretty small return. If that's the best way, I'll do it, but is there a better way?

Well then it's saptap or fishing, that's the two options.

Platform is best

There isnt an efficient way for that. All you can do is put a sap tap and wait.

I was thinking of maybe putting a stone foundation next to a tree, putting 11 walls on it and a ceiling on top. Won't have to say goodbye to 600 cement paste that way.

Gives you a respawn point and since the flyer nerf a safe spot for a Stam break

You already mention both in the beginning... Both works but decide which is more doable for now.

... or just make a tree sap tap, and make a wood pillar about 10 high up to it.

That sounds like the easiest way. Thanks for the suggestion!
