Veggie Cakes and Feeding Troughs

I have multiple Achatina, and figured that using a feeding trough to take care of them might be easier. However, I noticed the cakes were disappearing, and it didn't seem to be the snails that were eating them.

I further tested this issue with a bit more isolation, putting some berries, meat, and a stack of cakes in a trough only close enough to a friends group of dinosaurs. I had them in view to test this, watched the trough, and looked around and checked the dino's food as well as watched for eating animations to try to find where they were going.

No animations played, and no food values changed. This trough was not near any snails, just a carno, two dilo, a jerboa, and a scorpion.

So the question is... what is happening here? Is this just a really weird bug in which the feeding trough itself enjoys the taste of veggie cakes, or am I losing my mind? lol

(As of patch 252.8, carnivores as well, without having any effect) will consume it automatically as long as their health is below 85%. It is also the only food the Achatina will eat and will recover 180 Food upon consumption. [copy it from ark gamepedia hope it help you]

Thats the thing that confuses me. I already knew about that 85% health thing, but does it also mean that carnivores will eat it even if they are ABOVE 85%? That makes little sense to me, as none of the nearby animals were injured.
