But take care not to kill a dino or player!
it's not really. Cross transfer means he can happily go to another server. Let me guess, you are from a scrub tribe or a solo RPer and can't compete with those who play more/smarter and you want it to be all vanilla so you dont die?
PVP game will have PVP consequences. Megatribe looks after their interests just like you would look after your own.
I am not even surprised by this reply. I for one do not care about the multiplayer (PVP) aspect of the game, but i did play this with friends, on my own server. I dont have problem with difficulty, i have problem with a pyramid scheme that if someone joins a server, you know...to have fun are completely at the good will of the alpha tribe. And there is nothing you can do about it. By pyramid scheme i mean that the sooner you start on a server, the more advantage you will have, regardless of the playstyle.
How would i compete with others if im playing solo?
This is why i am playing with friends in a coop way... Forgive me but i dont see the appeal on putting my time and effort in the hands of a player that wipes half/emtore the server because his pet dino got killed by a random encounter.
Ninja edit: PVP is not PVP when it is so one sided that there is nothing one can do about it - You dont talk about "fight" in a Boot vs Ant scenario
for the record, i have never played on actual multiplayer, i have read stories about what happened to other people, , and so i was even more so playing on mp servers.
Which is fine, i like to tweak the settings to my liking anyway, so im not missing out, nor i feel myself "scrub" because my favorite color is different
I just get sick and tired of the alpha hate because they are more powerful. If you dont want to fight other players, go play PVE, or like you did, go host your own server. No doubt, some Alphas are bastards, but wanting to get rid of of alphas is just as achievable as world peace. There will always be an alpha. And most Alpha's protect the servers smaller inhabitants from extraserver raiders.
Now personally, the things I enjoy most out of ark is the growing and creation of better dino lines, better bases (forced by PVP threats) etc. Im not into the whole, join a server, wipe and move on, but I do enjoy the occasional raid. Frankly if an alpha is wiping you, they dont want you there, move on. They want a different thing out of the game than you, yet you want them to play your style by not attacking you.
Yes, some alphas as juvenile, but even of those that are not in the beginning, many of them grow itchy if they see that a previously new player is growing steadily. How many times ive heard of stories that alphas were friendly in the beginning, they even gave people free stuff, but as they grew, they started to make up random rules - dont go there, dont do this, only mine when xyz, and only THERE (and only THAT much) etc. And you cant even do anything about it, because they can just leave their pets on agressive mode, and good luck trying to do anything about them...
Regardless of intentions, it is still a ♥♥♥♥ system when if a guy has a bad day they (or just him, solely can wipe your progress entirely, because they felt like it or got angry and wanted to let off steam.
Obviously i am not affected, nor I ever was by this, and i never will, because i refuse(d) to play on public because of this.
While i agree with you that you have plenty...and i mean plenty of servers to choose from (to move to), how many times one has to hop before they find a good server?
And this is a legit question, because i dont know how much of a gamble it is to find a good one, and to be able to actually set foot in one without the fear of extinction 40+ hours into the server...
Also, "if an alpha is wiping you they dont want you there" - why do i have to move because some juvenile ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ doesnt like my face?
Again, PVP is only PVP where you have a chance, You dont call a one sided fight a fight, you call it a beating
This^^
Adapt or die
Diplomacy is now your best course of action.
Regardless of how you feel about it, if you are a threat to the stabilaty of your server, then your days are numbered.
The alpha tribe is far more concerned about cross ark transfers, if they dont or cant trust you, then they have no choice but to stop you growing.
