Unicorn breeding
So I got lucky today and ended up taming a unicorn that wandered up to my base.

How does breeding work with them?
Can it mate with a regular horse? I have a high-level female to go with it, though I didn't have time to try it. If so, would it be safe to assume that the child will be a normal horse?

If it mates with another unicorn, will the child be a unicorn?

I've seen nothing but guesswork so far.

Oh wow, ummmmm I would like to know if that's a thing. An army of unicorns through incestuous breeding!

From what I understood is that there is only 1 unicorn per server.

You can have tamed one's, but only 1 wild one at a time. Once it's tamed a new one should apear in the wild.

You need another unicorn to breed but they can be bred.

Unicorns only breed with another unicorn, but they breed true.

You: I was actually gonna ask this question as people keep mentioning "only one existing at at a time" and I was pretty sure I understood that, and you confirmed what I was assuming, or... you say "should", I really hope so.

Dev's have said this isn't the case. It's 1 per server, that includes wild and tamed. Once someone tames one, thats it for that server. There were reports of unicorns spawning after one was alreadt tamed, but people who tamed them had them die from starvation because the server was over the unicorn cap.

Yes Devs have stated it is 1 per server regardless of whether the wild one is tamed.
As for mating, i don't believe Unicorn mates with Equus, but I could be wrong. But if you want to mate Unicorn with Unicorn then you need to get 2 Unicorns from different servers together to mate.

GP is right. Here's the official tweet: https://twitter.com/bubblywums/status/849343470749851651.

Official tweet. So wrong.

Anyway, I've got a female unicorn on an official PvE server. I'd be happy to breed her until we both get a mating pair.

Equus and Uni wont mate, sadly. Weird since they share the same wiki page with nothing different on either.

It's the same as different types of wyvern, or as modded animals vs vanilla animals. Regardless of whether they share the same/similar models, they're each their own blob of code in the backend. That's all the game recognises, no matter how obvious or logical things may seem to us sometimes.
