Are raptors irrelevant now?
Just wanting to see if other players share my opinion, and can offer additional feedback.

Now that iguanodons have been added, I feel like raptors are pretty much irrelevant. The iguanodon is an even easier tame, and superior in all aspects apart from probably a slight damage difference, which doesn't matter anyway because raptors barely deal damage to begin with.
The iguanodon is faster (its only true threat in the wild is a giga), has more health, can carry more, and has no stamina drain from sprinting.

I feel like raptors need something like a pack boost to allow them to compete.

raptors weren't really the mighty of anything. Sabers beat it in most categories. If anything, Iguanodons are competing against Gallimimus.

Its still proabably a lot easier for a low level player to tame a high level raptor than an iguanadon given that parasaur kibble is far easier to obtain that micoraptor kibble, so I would say that raptors are still good early game mounts.

^^Yeah Raptors have always been outmatched by most creatures, even in the early days. Like many of the older creatures, Raptors will get some "TLC" in the future to be better.

Raptors have pretty much always been irrelevant, at least in my opinion.

The damage of raptors is significantly higher.

Troodons are the new Raptors.

raptor are mainly used as high-speed scouts and ranger mounts on the server i play on. not used for combat, but for getting ahead of and finding animals being sought for taming, and then staying within sight long enough for the battlebarge or caravan to reach it.

edit: oh and the tiny jump they do, while in need of a buff, is quite useful in the scouting role.
not much experience with the iguanodons yet, but so far, the consensus on the server is their maneuovrability is not nearly as good as the raptor.

Iguanodons have a tiny jump as well.

I once remember a time long long ago that raptors were the mount to aim for, that was untill they got hit with some balance changes and later with some bugfixing (fall damage) made them drop of against lategame dinos. Though they still are a good early game mount.

Isn't their advantage the fact that you can shoot while still on their back now?

You can do that with iguanodons as well.

Except what outclassed raptors before were midgame and endgame mounts, Iguanodons are early-game mounts.

When you learn stone structures, raptors become irrelevant. Build a box with a ramp, lure a saber in one and tame it with what ever meats you have. All set.

Except for the speed, I'd use a trike or a raft 10/10 times depending on where you need to be going.
