Basically its like the titan. Theres a strict limit. Tamed or wild
This weekend, I restarted a new server for my local friends and we built our first base at the S1 Spawn point. When I logged in last night, there was a white male unicorn wandering the coastline directly in front of our base. I followed it around for a while (it runs if you get too close and are not crawling).
I use the command line -ForceRespawnDinos after updating the server. So, the unicorn was a fresh spawn.
Coords 78.5, 35.
It headed west after I left it alone.

Hmm, can anybode confirm any of these?

From my experience - I killed ~50-60 horses in last two days trying to free space for Unicorns, but had no luck. Not sure if there's a point to continue looking for one or not.

If people are still finding them after one is already tamed then I suppose there's a little flaw in how they're supposed to work. I posted a tweet that was from Jen, an Ark Dev, that said tamed ones count towards the 1 limit.
But I've been seeing multiple people say they've found some even after one has been tamed. It might be supposed to work with only 1 per map but something messed up?

But I'm not completely sure, I've only ever seen one, which is the one I've tamed.

I think Jen's tweet was the case after all. If you have tamed unicorn on a server there will be no further spawning.
We looked everywhere, killed all spawned horses again and again. There's no unicorn spawning.

Where do uncicorns normally spawn, and are they only special because of the horn, or are there other things that make it special too?

Well according to the Squatty Potty commercial you can get rainbow icecream out of their rearend and feed it to childrem for a really fun time.

So i'm curious are the unicorns speical in any way or just a cosmetic change?

Unicorns only breed with unicorns sadly. Confussing since they have the same wiki page. Have seen them breeding Unicorns on YouTube though. So either they are bringing them in or using admin spawndino command.

Got mine on Herb Island, was stuck between 3 rocks. Aint seen another since.

It's been 4 days we are actively searching while there's a tamed unicorn on our server. We found and killed 200+ Equuses at this point but haven't seen a unicorn.

In this video some guy says that he spent 6+ hours looking for one. After killing the tamed one he quickly found another unicorn.

Everything confirms what Jen said, tamed or wild it counts toward the server cap. Titanos work the same way by the way. I haven't seen a single proof of the opposite.
And yet you can breed them though there can be only one? I don't think I want to know how that works.
