Ichthyornis
Anyone know what kibble they eat or if they eat mutton or something?

"The Ichthyornis will act like a Pegomastax, where it steals the items of the player unprovoked"

for me that was enough not to continue reading wiki and went straight to game.ini to remove it from my game. Yesterday i lost ascendant hatchet by those guys but i was able to get it back...i really don't need this kind of molesting...

I just knockout tamed one...with prime fish
Prime fish will do just fine. Preferred kibble is pegomastax.

If you kill it, or the Pegomastax, will you get your stuff back?

Yeah, your item drops in a bag or in their inventory

I've been away from ARK for a while and have returned to discover the ichthy seagull..... I have 3000+ hours in game and have never been so frustrated or pissed off.
I have a low level character on the beach (the safest place to be right?), attacked by a 'stealth seagull' (as the 4 I have now run across that have attacked have all attacked from outside my LOS and if they make a noise it is hidden in among the beach's background noise clutter), combat starts with it ripping the weapon from my hand, so I replace it, it does it again, so I replace it, it does it again, so I replace it, it does it again.....aaaand......I'm dead. Rinse repeat for all 4 seagulls. What the ♥♥♥♥ are you suppose to do as a noob on the beach against the biological version of a Stuka when you are not given the option to use a weapon? Use strong language against it in the hope it dies of shock? I read somewhere they are vulnernable to bolas....super if you have learned the engram.

Not only that ♥♥♥♥ but they also attack tames when you put food on them. Ruins the tame and they dont drop the food they take off it. completely ruins my experience on ark now and people are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about the flier nerf.

I tame a pair of Dimorphidons, keep one on my shoulder, and have them follow me around everywhere. Any time I see an Ichthyornis, I just take the one off my shoulder and send them to attack the bird. It keeps my companions fed.

As a tame, Ichthyornis feels mostly useless unless. While high leveled wild ones can take 20 crossbow bolts to the face, tamed ones are much less robust while their attack damage remains quite small. Having a few of them set to collect fish is about their only use, and that doesn't work reliably long-term due to other birds attacking yours, or the fish in the river being fished out. It's more efficient to just hop on a Pelagornis, fly around coastlines looking for an isolated megalodon, land your bird nearby, kill and harvest the megalodon.

it does NOT drop an item bag more than half of the time items are permanently lost

So from testing, it eats anything that is consumable, anything not consumable it will drop, and it randomly becomes Aggro. when taming one, wear nothing but some darts, a sheety rifle and bolas, and pego kibble. bola it and tranq it quick!

Tamed Ithyornis is one of my new favorites, they are AMAZING at early game taming for collecting prime fish, and prime fish meat. Esp if you want to rush a higher level early game Baryonyx.
