Giga Taming
So I've tamed a giga solo on my server before, but it wasn't very high level considering max is 600 for wilds. Even though it was a low level, and Im playing on an unofficial server with an ascendant rifle and shocking darts, this giga was still super hard to tame. I tried the 4 gates and bear trap method, and it was too big, so I tried using 5 gates in a kinda of bigger size, still didn't work. The giga just kept getting out, glitching out, or the gates weren't closed enough. I managed to get it into an area where I spent 3am-5am tranqing it until I finally got it down.
Since this method was so difficult and time-consuming, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions? Maybe I could use 4 behem gates? Anything works, thanks.

i donno about unofficial as i play official but ive solo tamed almost 40 using ASC xbows with 400+ damage.
i find longneck is too long between shots. but yes depending on level it can take almost an hr to ko one if its moving around and your not always hitting it.
i never used gates or anything but you could use 4 behem gates, place a small gate inside a behem and lure it in, fly / run through the small gate and close the entrence.

Try using narcotics to keep it knocked out. RED Berries Won't work.
red berries dehydrate, and are otherwise useless. narcotics are for meat eaters, narcoberries work better with herbivores. I have no problem with the taming part, I usually have 30 kibble and 5,000 narcotics ready, it's just knocking it out that's the pain.

yes sir, ive tamed a lot solo my firsts weeks always in official, the gigas are very easy to trap if you know how is the IA, you need a bird and another dino like bait, then you have a ramp and the dino door of metal and is all, they dont can jump 4 high of the doors and they are always traped like in 5 minuts if you are fast in the bird, they are just bored to tame but very easy and now with this multiplyers events very very easy.
(Better if you can use the natural rocks like trap at the same time)

Never try everything you see in the videos like to tame the giga with a bear trap lol is suicide for noobs

I haven't heard someone believing that myth about narcotics and narcoberries since the first month of Ark's release. Herbivores don't care if you use narcotics and carnivores don't care if you use narcoberries. They are both torpored the same and neither narcotics nor narcoberries affect taming effectiveness on either carnivores or herbivores.

Actually they do effect TE the more the dino eats the lower this % becomes. 1 narcoberry gives 20 torpor and 1 narcotics gives 40 torpor, i think, it could be 60, either way more torpor = less narcs used. This means the dino eats less which = higher effectiveness. But you were right about the fact the dino doesnt care....

no good sir narcotics and narco berries do not lower TE at all this can be simply proven by spam feed 2k to a dino. berries simply give less torpor
