minumun ram needed for a 50-70 player ark server
currently i have a pc i that i use every day for gaming and whatever else i need the specs currently are

cpu-4690k no oc

gpu-gtx 950

ram- 8gb kingston savage @ 1600 2x4 kit

motherboard-gigabyte gaming 5

i want to turn this pc^^^ into a server for ark when i build a newer ryzen based system for me to game/work on

so i wanna no if 16gb would work or would i need a full 32 gb kit..i intend on making high rate server 75x xp like 100-200 gather and fast tame so it'll be easy to to get started and there will be alot of mods like ark:eternal/bulk/s+ etc etc(unless a better mod like aca or eternal comes out assuming theirs a avg of 40 players(definitly wont at first) what would the min i need to support this with as little lag as possible

1. The chance you'll end up with 50-70 players on your server is extremely unlikely. Given there are over 18,000+ unofficial servers, most is usually around 20 at peak for extremely popular ones with the average servers having between 3-6 players. Only exception to this that I've seen are a few russian servers. Point is: dont ever expect your server to come even close to your current expectations.

2. Dedicated servers offered from host providers(--NOT-- Slices) run on 32-64gb ram. Given points Im going to cover in 4-6, you'll need at the very very least 32gb but even 64 is going to not really alleviate issues that you'll encounter.

3. ACA is all but dead since abandoned by the maker and code base given over to a team put together by a former assistant to the kid who was originally make thing mod. Said team made Eternal so pretty much forget about ACA.

4. 100x-200x gather is 1 chop full/overweight inventory. That plus your other settings you should just make it Instant tame/level etc as at 75x for xp its almost instant max without added levels(and even then). Thus you're going to also have to make serious adjustments to both player and dino stats to balance out such high boosts.

5. More mods more high maintenance. If you're not prepared to almost be on 24/7 to keep server updated with mod updates(especially the sponsored or other ones competing to be sponsored who are updated multiple times a day or just the more mods the more chances each need updates at any hour), then you're going to find your server a ghost town fast due to being down more than up. If you plan to have assistants to help maintain the server, vette them well as abuse is rampant, especially on super boosted servers(! LC being a good example).

6. Also in conjunction with 5, rules are imperative for such servers. Otherwise people will build urban sprawl bases with mall size dino parking lots, grief the server with leaving tons of dinos breeding unlimitedly etc all causing crashes or severe lag. Because everything is ramped up people can literally in hours build and breed in those ways and it will get out of hand without constantly being watchful and enforcing the rules(thus a full time job). Such servers also tend to attract some of the more immature players who tend to cause other issues too so be very prepared in these regards.

So all in all sustainability with your lofty goals is pretty unlikely and no matter what, the more ram the better for your high expectations of course. Just know what you're getting yourself into and good luck.

i appreciate the tips but this thread was what would i need to run a stable high rate server i already no how im gonna have the settings tp make it balanced that wasn't what i was wondering it was if i could run a server with 16gb ram or if i would need 32 i would get a 64gb kit but io dont believe my mobo supports 64gb

and ur number 4 is irrelevant cuz the per level stat modifier will make it very easy to carry more then the vanilla settings allow

I run two servers on my 32GB box, and while at peak I only had 13 or so people on, I never saw the RAM do much of anything. My CPU bottlenecked though (picked a lousy one, only 2.13GHz where devs have confirmed you just want to go as high as possible.)
That said, I did run at default rates, not sure if insane rates would stress RAM or CPU more.
My RAM use for both servers hovers around 10-11GB lately.
