[LF tips] taming my first quetzal
My brother and I will be attempting our first quetz tame tonight, any tips for first timers? Most of the videos I see are taming quetzals using a quetzal. Well I don't have that option. Lol. So we are thinking of one person carrying the other in the claws on an Argentavis and shoot it with our ramshackle rifle.

torpor drops quickly, so try to nail it constantly

Don't shoot it in the wing membranes, it doesn't register that as an actual hit. Go for body/headshots.

I'll edit this with another tip: Make a crossbow/grappling hook if you can. Have the shooter dangle a bit, you'll drastically reduce the amount of darts you send up your bird's tailfeathers.

the strategy with the argie will work just fine, just make sure the argie isn't overburdened or it won't be able to keep up with the fleeing Quetz.

You can use Raw Mutton too, if you find it easier to locate

Try all the other suggestions and if that doesn't work, I suggest using a grappling hook to grip the Quetz when it flies off, then your brother (or you, depends who is attached to the quetz) keep an eye on it - try to keep the Quetz in one general area. If you can get it stuck on the side of a cliff, mountain, hill etc. that's great since you can just get constant body/headshots. :)

Good luck!

try to avoid knock it in Redwood (it will get eaten alive in sec by those stupid terror birds) or above water for obvious reason :)

Can you grappling hook into wild dinos?
Mi Mar 17, 2017 @ 8:28am
You can grapple wild dinos, yes, but as soon as they aggro (or flee), it'll break the grapple and you'll fall. So that's not gonna work.

If you're going solo, there's always this way. The most painful and annoying way to do it, but it gets the job done... eventually...

Actually acheieved my first solo quetz tame doing it this way last night was a lot of fun but the panic mode set in once it fell near some sabers, don't think i've ever slammed the left mouse button so hard before like it was going to reel me in quicker or something lol.

Not that I know of, no. But you can attach yourself to a tree or a cliff wall and do it, if you're quick with the e-button ;) or if you have a friend they can pilot the tapejara and you can be in the front of back seat.

Yeah, this process drove me insane. So close to destroying both my keyboard and my monitor...

my first solo quetz get eaten by swarm of 6-7 terror birds and a carno (redwood) before i managed to get to him...lesson learned :)
