Im Thinking Of Hosting a ARK Dedicated Server But..?
Does it slow your computer down at all times?
If i put it on my internal hard drive can i play on it and get the benefits of my SSD?
Does it use RAM even when your not using it?

after reading questions 1 - 3, i strongly advice against hosting your own dedicated server.

It will affect your PC while you have the server running yes. How much it affects it will depend on several things. The main ones being how many players are on it and how good your rig is to begin with. I highly recommend against using a HDD as it will result in load times being much longer and stalls will be frequent as the harddrive is much slower as processing server information. SSD or bust running the game through an SSD won't affect the server performance.

To answer the last question. Well im confused as to what you mean. If you mean 'Does my server use RAM when it's not on?' then the answer is obviously no. If you mean 'Does it use RAM when im not playing on it, or anyones playing on it?' then the answer is yes.

unless you have at least 32gb of ram and both host and play on a SSD, I would strongly recommend against hosting it. Like BE said, you will get bad lag if you host it on a mechanical drive. Plus, if you both play and host on the same computer you will use at least 20GB of ram by all accounts of others doing the same.

^this

before you're trying to host your own server you should understand how a computer works first..

1.obviously anything that requires your cpu to calculate some stuff slows down your computer if you would need the full power somewhere else..
2.what kind of question is that? if you dont put the server on your ssd it obviously won't benefit from having an ssd... i can also put a bunch of ram modules on my desk but my computer won't benefit from them..
3. when the server is started it uses ram like any other software on this planet.. if it isn't started it obviously won't use any resources and is just laying around on your harddrive
