How do you give another player admin controls?
My son and I have a local server we play on and I have been unable to give him admin controls like I have. Being the server host, I naturally have them it seems. However, using all of the information on how to grant access to admin controls, it doesn't seem to work for us. Here is what we have tried:

- I have typed into the console the command "enablecheats password", where password was obviously replaced with our own password. On my son's game, he then went into the console and typed the same. After doing so, we tried simply using the fly command by typing in "fly" and "cheat fly" and neither worked.

- I used the admin window commands to execute the "enablecheats" command and did the same steps as above, but it also did not work.

- Using a guide found on here, I placed a file in the directory "...\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved" named "AllowedCheaterSteamIDs.txt" and added both our 9 digit Steam IDs to it, restarted the server, but it still does not work for us.

I believe this is user error on our part, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what we are doing wrong. Can someone point out our issue for us? Thank you in advance.

Do you guys play on a dedicated server or a non-dedicated?

have to tried to set ServerAdminPassword before starting the host? It is required for EnableCheats password to work.

have you tried to prefix commands with "admincheat", for example "admincheat fly"?

I ask because I host a dedicated server and my son and I play on it together, and if I do enablecheats password in his console it works instantly.

I do not know how it works for non-dedicated sessions however.

I use Ark Server Manager (ASM) to manage my servers, and I've never had a problem.

We play on a non-dedicated private local server. Not sure if that is the issue or not?

How does one set the ServerAdminPassword? All I do is tell the game to start a Non-Dedicated Server. That's all we do. I don't see a place to enter a ServerAdminPassword anywhere.

Thanks in advance!

Isn't there a popup when you click the host option before starting proper? It always shows up for me and my friends.

When I click the non-dedicated server button, it does pop up with an username and password. I assumed that was for if others wanted to get on the server with us, they would need that password? Or is that for something else?

Sorry for the late reply but that password is the admin password, people that want to join have to be invited or be on your friend list if you choose to make it private. Passwords are not necessary for joining.

I had this problem too when I was trying to get cheats on a non-dedicated server until I finally figured out how to do it.

When you host your non-dedicated session, there is a username and password, right? The usename, type in whatever you want, but for the password, just for fun, try "123".

When in the world, the other computer who is trying to get cheats, should first type in "enablecheats 123" in the console. Then type in "cheat fly" and that's worked for me.

I noticed that you need to put "cheat" before doing any command or it will not work. I wanted to do this really bad and finally figured it out, so this worked for me, but not guaranteed to work for you. Good luck!

Holy smokes that was it! I was really wondering what that password was for in the beginning. We have the commands working now. Thank you all for your help!

also - if you want to have auto admin without typing the password everytime you log in, you need to use your steam64 id and not the 9 digit one in the AllowedCheaterSteamIDs.txt

you can find / convert your steam id here: https://steamid.io/lookup/76561197962944812
