Taming rates
Is it normal that every time the official taming rates change or there is a taming event that it alters the taming rates on my unofficial server? It has screwed me out of a few perfect tames.

ok i am curious why would official servers or there events effect unofficial servers?

It does not alter unofficial server rates. The only time that it has happened is whenever they perform a core modification, and at that point they will indeed inform you that un-official / single-player taming will be increased.

The Admin of my server keeps telling me that the taming rates change everytime they have an event on official which is every weekend i think. I didnt think that was a thing and that he has a messed up config setting possibly on the server that is causing this. Either way it didnt make sense to me as well. I appreciate the insight. I play on Boneheads cluster the island. his taming rate fluctuates between 10x(which is the intended rate) 12x and 8x. It is very frustrating to find this out when im in the middle of taming a max level dino. Ive had to just put in way more kibble, etc just to account for the variable rates...

Thank you for your responses. I appreciate your insight and experience. I think the admin is relatively new but he is trying very hard to get this fixed.

What is the taming rate on this server? It's possible the food consuption for taming has been affected, if this is increased, if more food is required on higher rates % will be really affected

Lol. Sorry for off topic, but with 8-13x taming, "way more kibble" is what? 2 or 3 More? Rofl XD

the taming rate should always be 10x. And even though you are quick to point out that "way more kibble" is an exaggeration, It is frustrating to screw up a perfect tame because I didnt know i needed "way more kibble" because the taming rates have magically changed

It was off topic. And while I get that its frustrating, I play with official rates and still bring about 5 extra kibble, just in case...

And I don't think that you can config a server to just randomly change the rates, more likely the admin wants to simulate the events on official servers. We have that on our unofficial too, right now it's 1,5x everything until tonight, maybe the admin decided to just up the rates a little and lower it the other times...

Is kibble even worth it at those rates? o.O
At x10 taming a 150 rex varies two levels between kibble and raw meat, is that really worth the hassle of kibble, especially when kibble gives you a headache, especially especially if your tame already tamed mostly off kibble?

Good point too. I played on a 5x server once and never bothered with kibble for any Dino, except some big herbivores that would take the unreasonable ammount of time and resources (about 1 hour ;))

Yes, i use mutton for the carnivores, You must use kibble for quite a few of the herbivores. Why tame if not to go for max efficiency late game. I tame to breed at this point. Also the admin seems to be stumped why his server's taming rates keep changing. He has suggested that the official taming events are causing it.

Im not asking for advice on taming. I asked if anyone had an idea why a server's taming rates would keep changing randomly after anything causes the server to restart or go down for any amount of time.
