Single player Dino Count
I've been playing ARK for a couple of days, though I don't like people, so I've been playing Single Player. I've changed a few settings around to my preferred style of play, ie: Hair takes over a month in game days to grow fully, Loot crates don't spawn at all, Most food that spoils will last 1 or 2 in game days before going off, My survivor could go for maybe a week without HAVING to eat.

The problem I seem to be having, is that there is a stupid amount of dinosaurs. What I'm trying to do is make Dinosaurs rare, for example, a maximum of maybe 500 dinosaurs (preferably without Alphas as the glowing annoys me) spawned over the entirety of The Island, so finding them would mean I'd have to actually prepare, and go out hunting, possibly without even finding any for days.

I've tried to use DinoCountMultiplier=0.1 in GameUserSettings.ini, but it seems that it doesn't make any difference to the amount of dinosaurs that are spawning.

Is there something I'm missing? Does the multiplier even work in SP?

Maybe someone could even help me as to getting something like this to work, it would be appreciated.

It makes a difference to spawn parameters, but doesn't do anything about dinos that have already spawned. So anytime you change the setting you should use "destroywilddinos" to force the world to repopulate.

There is also an "NPCReplacements" game.ini setting that allows you to prevent certain creatures from spawning by replacing them with something else or a "blank" entry that simply stops them from spawning.

The server configuration page on the official wiki is very useful in that regard.

EDIT: Same thing applies to spawn replacements. If you stop say, Gigas from spawning but there are already Gigas in your world it won't delete the already-spawned ones. You gotta kill 'em (either the hard way or via console) to get rid of 'em but the game won't spawn more.

this is a good tool for this
http://arksurvivalevolved.gamewalkthrough-universe.com/dedicatedservers/customizationtools/dinospawnconfigurationtool/Default.aspx

its not got the newer dino's so will have to add them yourself like

NPCReplacements=(FromClassName="Kaprosuchus_Character_BP_C",ToClassName="")

as for the dinocountmulti in single player dont think its working i change it to 0.7 did the kill and after 20 mins ingame it was back upto 26000 dinos's.

I've tried to use DinoCountMultiplier=0.1 in GameUserSettings.ini, but it seems that it doesn't make any difference to the amount of dinosaurs that are spawning.

I had the same problem.
you get about 34000 dinos on the default setting.

DinoCountMultiplier=0.1 will work but not the first time or second.
After many resets "destroywilddinos" command it kicked in.

So keep resetting it till it works

it is a stupid bug in singleplayer

Have they fixed the fact that in Singleplayer there are no creatures in caves anywhere?
Thats the only thing putting me off from just playing singleplayer, overworld is too easy, the caves are the only area where there is a slight challenge.

I have since built a new PC, but I managed to find a backup of the settings I had on my old HDD.

I was using GlobalSpoilingTimeMultiplier=40 for the food and HairGrowthSpeedMultiplier=0.1

Dinos re-spawn in the caves in my singleplayer game.
