do not use campfires or fireplaces, use standing torches, you can get them closer together and give the same heat. You should be able to get a ring of 6 really close

As said standing torches work better. You could also use a ac or 2 or get a one or more penguins amd dimes to get close to it as they act as a ac for eggs

i tried the standing torches cant get it above 26 and i have 10 i believe. also i cant craft ac's yet and no penguins or dimes.

Umm, DO not look at the temp as they NEVER changes no matter how many torches you put down. That is the AIR temp and does no effect eggs directly. Look at the current Hypothermal insulation and Hyperthermal insulation levels. Its a strange setup but the temp you see when you hit H is not the temp that effects the egg.

50 Insulation is worth three degrees of resistance, so if you get the for every Standing torch, you are adding 6 degrees to the current air temp when it comes to hatching eggs

i use ~20 air conditioner in a circle and drop the eggs in the middle, works even for giga eggs. for eggs like dimorph you need ~6 depends to the region you are breeding and if its indoor or outdoor.

The temp does matter. Its your base point.. You have to provide enough protection based on the current temp. Penguins provide protection if the temp is to low. Dimetrodons provide protection for both high and low temps.

If you need high temps make a small base on the edge of the swamp. Temps there hit 85f most days. Pick the egg up at night when temp drops to low if fires aren't working for you. A house that gives the house bonus will add 50 protection iirc.

AC bruteforce method is best.

Make a 3 walls high room.
Bottom layer you put 30-40 ACs.
Then cover this layer with ceilings.
Upper layer will be your hatching room, just throw the eggs on the ceilings and watch em incubating fine.

This even works with wyvern eggs in the snow biome, that what i did to mass hatch wyverns on island (official server).

If you dont plan to go big on breeding, 10ACs are okay too ofc. but if you cant afford ACs you should better concentrate on developing your char instead of raising fancy dinos with low lvl parents... just my 2 cents.

I use 9 ac units (4 would prob work) and get 852 protection. I dont think any egg would fail to hatch there. This includes the house bonus too.

I build a 2x2x1 and center the 9 units. then I build a 2x2X? on top of that. That puts the units inches under the eggs.

edit: This is a hatchery not a grow house. I walk the babies out after they hatch, to a feeding station. After they pass baby stage they are moved again to either an orphanage or day care center.

852 protection from my set-up provides 91.8f/51c protection. That means you can be either above or below the target temp by those numbers.

man, a lot of you need to do your homework. Way overkill on units......
Yeah, with five I hatched everything I ever tried. Maybe need seven if you live in the snow. Right now I use three S+ ACs in a single room and again, can do anything. But the OP said he can't make ACs yet, so the AC approach is not an option. Torches are the thing for now.
