Worthless Ovis -_-
So, Tribemate got an ovis a while back, and with the aid of another tribe, we been trying to Breed them. Good Idea, essentially, would make for decent mutton tamings, right ?
Well, thats what I thought, by now I changed my opinion big time.

The thing is, Breeding them turns out to be one annoying hassle, not only do you have to build extra floors so the baby can fall through one or two of them without dissapearing below the world, you have to constantly watch them during the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Maturity process, because more often then not they die with food in their inventory because the game doesnt manage properly register the food and HP levels, having it starve to sudden death. The only way to circumvent, is to keep handfeeding it and make sure it wont fall under a ceartain threshhold.

I dont know how it goes for you guys, But I have enough of this sorry excuse of an addition, and if it wherent for the fact that they belong to someone else, i'd slaughter them on the spot. Out of a week of attempts, I had 4 dissapearing on me on birth, and 2 Starving to sudden death during Maturity phase. I managed one, and only one full breeding, and that only because I spend most of the time in its inventory, forcefeeding it over and over again, and even then a moments afk left it bloody and near death !

To much of a Fracking Hassle !

Devs should have fixed the maturation and other similar issues. People wasting day so their babies dissappear, or starve...

The sad part is, I had hoped to replace a major Egg farm with Ovis, massively reducing the ammount of Dinos required otherwise to get good stock of breeding and combat mounts. But, yay, back to the old messy ways it is.

They where supose to be easy and fast to breed, infact they should be able to be feeded by its parents and not by us, well, them and others dinos too. We should only take care of not let the food finish to parents.

When did the devs say this?

Well, reached a new record. Just got twins, dead on birth, on official server. Wildcard... thank you for nothing -_-

low level babies are almost impossible to breed add to that the scorched earth spoil time... this is from my own experience.

And yet the mature ones can't even feed themselves -- put them on wander in a field of berries and they collect absolutely nothing, which makes no sense, even a monkey can manage it.

For the record, we haven't had any of the babies vanish, or refuse to eat, and have bred up quite a lot of them. Our problem is that there's no way to harvest them for mutton, since we're PVE and no-friendly-fire. We need a butchering knife or something. But we sure get a lot of wool from them.

Was this after the Valentine's event? We had a miracle with breeding and thriving with ovis. I haven't tried breeding them as of late so I don't know if we would have the same issue.

Yeah, and note that the wool is twice as heavy as pelt.

While I love shutting down haters, they're not really complaining, just bug reporting in a slightly aggravating way :p

EA is a good example for people complaining about it being unfinished, but they just seem to be reporting issues

Aggrivated bug reporting or not, I wish people would just use the intended bug forums instead of cluttering up general chat forums. And before anyone says "It won't help. The devs won't listen" people can at least meet the devs half way and post where the post would belong.

I have posted issues / concerns in the past (where they belong) and although I was never given a direct response - I did get the issue resolved from a patch.

So what you mean is that they actualy do read our comments?

I have had no issue breeding ovis or any other dino because I was breeding them over open ground (like on a flat rock surface) to not have the issue of going beneith the floor. Feeding the baby only has to be done contantly at first and over time they become less and less reliant on being constanly fed to the point that you are able to walk away and do other things.

The amount of food can also be reduced that the baby needs by going into your game.ini file and adding (only applies to new baby, not ones already there):

[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]
BabyFoodConsumptionSpeedMultiplier=0.5
