More Death By Bugs
Seems like at the moment every time I leave my base I get insta-killed by some weird buggy hell that I am sure is not intended mechanics. Usually near or in water - which I know now has some pretty nasty creatures in it, but I never even see them, just get dismounted, perma-stunned, then dead.

I don't even go in the ocean - this is happening in the swamps or the tropical shallows - and the last time I killed everything around me and still drowned, even though my head was not underwater.

And just now I flew 200 feet through the air attached to a spino, killed it, then kept flying around till I was dead. WTF?

Is it just me, or are things a little screwy at the moment??

Are you playing on an official server with a high ping or something? Sounds like lag...
SmallArchangel Mar 8, 2017 @ 6:10am
No, SP game, no lag.

Oh, and I forgot the time I was in Whitesky Peak, and flew randomly off my argent sideways, then died with a message saying 'you killed yourself'. Survival is more than a challenge when you don't have a clue what is killing you.

the new baryonyx can stun you for 10seconds. they can use this attack just when they are swimming. when you are in the swamp try to avoid the deeper parts. just move in shallow waters. also take care for kaprosuchus. they can grab you from the saddle and run away WITH YOU. xD they can even grab you from spinos and quetzals.
But also yeah there are still weird bugs ingame. ))

Ya that sounds weird.... I haven't seen anything like that I can always pretty clearly tell what kills me lol.
Adam West Mar 8, 2017 @ 6:15am
always have a parachute with you. when you jump off a bird by mistake it will save your life xD also 2~3 grappling hooks can be usefull in many dangerous situations.

So I did just login to my server and watched as every dino I have, 99% of which are always on passive, take off and attack a dimorphodon for no reason. Somehow it killed one of my Ptera's in the process. Now I have to get like 30 dinos back into place where they were before. Not sure wtf was up about that.
SmallArchangel Mar 8, 2017 @ 6:33am
I'm pretty sure if any of the new dinos had attacked me I would have seen them, at least! And I am always only in the shallows when I get stun-locked, without seeing a thing. If a Kapro had carried me off it must have been invisible, Ferrari-fast, and also carrying a spino. And 3 pirahna.

As for accidentally jumping off birds, yes, I've done that - but generally you head straight down, not sideways at great velocity into a cliff. Plus, I didn't hit 'jump' as I have learned that particular lesson well...

@gamertaboo: That's a weird one too, makes no sense. And annoying to have to round up all your creatures. At least when that has happened to me they have been actually defending the base.

I've been killed by a bug too: a dung beetle killed me while i was tranqued by a scorpion
Adam West Mar 8, 2017 @ 7:26am
i remember bugs with fishes that were flying away after i got them out of the water. but i thought this bug if fixed. maybe you found a way back to this bugs. ))
but to be honest it sounds like terrible laggs. maybe you should check your internet connection and the server connection.
SmallArchangel Mar 8, 2017 @ 7:31am
Nothing wrong with my internet connection, it is a SP game so that really should not be an issue. Besides, lag does not make you fly...

L O L

On a serious note I've had a few dinos, on my private server, fly around and act weird when on passive or neutral myself. I've found if you have just ONE, even ONE, dino on aggressive, all of your neutral dinos will follow it to attack everything.

Yes lag can make you rubberband and then when the game tries to "figure out where you are" it can make you "fly" but it's more like a positioning issue. I've had it happen to me and I've played Ark since day one almost. Granted a took a year hiatus to wait for more content, but it can happen.

I would suggest backing up your save files, delete your Ark game, reinstall it (do it overnight or something since it's big if your PC is slow), then place your old saves back in and see if that helps perhaps. You could also make sure your PC is free of junk, old files, etc. with free programs like CCleaner, Defraggler can help with your PC lag issues, or try Malwarebytes Free Junkware Cleaner.

You should ALWAYS make a PC Restore Point though before trying anything in case something odd happens. Also check your graphics settings and make sure motion blur is off as that can affect your "lag" and game speed at times too. Just play around with the settings and see if something changes.

true. connection should not be a problem in sp xD but lags can make you fly :-D depends to the lag and the situation you are in. lags can just freeze the game for some seconds or cause a game crash. this happens most of the time when you get too many stacks from a creature to your inventory or the other way. but there are also lags that keep your movement. so if you cross a stone for example and you got an angle with the direction to the air and you keep on moving you start to fly. but you will also be teleported back to your old position after the lag.
if this is not the fact i can just hope that there will be a hotfix for you soon ))

Can also be caused by force spawning dinos, too many dinos on the island etc. I would also suggest you use admin commands and do a wilddino wipe (save game before you do this) and then see if that helps. Sometimes that'll help a lot.

Sounds like something is spawning under the terrain and killing you. You don't get a death message?

The only death messages I have had said 'you suffocated' (I was in water) and 'you killed yourself'. No creatures mentioned.

I don't force spawns and haven't altered spawns in any way so there shouldn't be too many. I haven't ever done a wild dino wipe, but this is not a very old save, so there shouldn't be any problems because of the age/size of save file or corruption.

@AdamWest: I think I would notice if I had lag or rubber-banding, because of just the behaviour you describe. What I have is not teleporting, it is more like a physics issue, with my character being flung wildly in a random direction. The game doesn't freeze, my fps remains consistently high while I am bugging to death. I don't suffer from ctd's either...

@DiscipleOfYahweh: I always back up my game, every time I play. Years of playing early access titles with entertaining bugs and glitches has trained me well :D
