Tapejara spawn rate (Center)

I have been looking on the center for a tapejara for a while now. My base is on the southern jungle island which supposedly has the highest spawn rate for them. Am I just unlucky or am i looking in the wrong spots?

They are very rare, no question, and then they tend to get spooked and fly up so high that you won't even see them render unless you're also very high. I've had better luck getting them down in the Underworld than on the surface world, if only because when spooked they can only run away so far. (This only works if you have flyers in caves enabled, though, or you won't be able to get it back out, and getting to it will be very hard too.)

Honestly, instead of actively looking for dinos, just keep your eyes open while you are travelling or doing other tasks. Yesterday I just randomly stumbled an lvl 150 tapejara on the mid jungle island (close to the swamp). 3 days ago a 145ish quetz above the snow mountains.

Actively seeking is just a waste of time. These birds literally can appar anywhere, and naturally you will get the best ones when you are not looking for them... just make sure you always have your taming equipment on you.

I saw a couple on the Island, but I have yet to see anyone on the Center.

I'm convinced that tapes don't land on the center. I usually find them extremely high over mid jungle. Never been able to hit one with a bola on the ground as I usually do at the island.

theres 1 around the jungle river but its a waste of time imo and even if manage to catch up it will most likely drop in a dangerous spot or just drown to death. ill stick to my argent and quetz

Yesterday I saw one walking on the land... but you are right, usually they are flying, high in the sky.

all the middle islands and blue op island on the center mostly just inland on the middles island and the right side of blue op land

I have seen one only one and it was right before I had to log off, it was on the blue obelisk island.

While out looking for mesopithecus I saw two different tapejaras on the ground in different places tonight on the Center. But admittedly that's unusual.

So are they mostly In the middle river or on the edges of the middle island? My base is on the edge near the blue obelisk.

For those having trouble catching them, my favorite method of catching them quick, clean and easy is with a box structure on the back of a quetz. I find its actually easier to spook 'em first towards open sky then scoop 'em up. You never have to worry about them landing in awkward spots cause you do it all midair.

I would love to do it this way but I'm taming the tapejara before the quetz since I'm still low (ish) level.
