This game really needs a suicide feature.
Sure, it's unique gameplay to beable to knock out and capture your enemies. But in terms of balance it's absolutely ridiculous that they can keep you knocked out for however long they want.

Should either enable a feature to beable to commit suicide after 5 minutes or add in a craftable item to kill yourself like that other survival game that I actually forgot the name of.

EDIT- I reread the post and now understand the confusion. I was primarily talking about being knocked out and not having any ability to kill yourself while knocked out.

One good suggestion is to just take a note from that other survival game and have an item you can store on your character that can't be looted and allows you to commit suicide.

This could actually be done in a number of different ways. Organic polymer is a good place to start in terms of mechanics. 1 option could be something like a low tier poison that'll tick away 10% of your max HP every 1 second for 15 seconds. it allows for the enemy (and you) to potentially fight the poison and prevent the affected person from dying thus rendering it useless.

Another one would by something like one of those cyanide pills disguised as a tooth and a special slot for it. The pill would be medium to advanced tier and would have a spoil time. In your inventory it would have lets say a spoil time of about 4 hours but have a spoil time of less than 1 hour when equiped. If it spoils in your mouth then it'd automatically activate, at which point no matter what means it was activated under, it'd kill the player after 5 seconds.

There's more possible mechanics but I believe both would be interesting and both would actually require players to actually prepare it so they're still easily punished if they don't spend the extra time needed to aquire these items before venturing out or possibly going into a fight.

Just prevent the ability to force feed food. The prisoner should be allowed to starve. keeping them tranqed would delay starvation, not prevent it. This would help with raids but prevent griefers.

well i can say from past expierience that as a level 1 just spawned into a server someone knocked me out caged and cuffed me and kept my charecter in a cage. i got frustated logged out came back to the server a few hours later and i was still locked in the cage, so logged off again. then checked it the next day and there i was still in the cage but had 2 new cage neighbors. none of us had been on the server for 10 minutes before being knocked out and caged. The person who did its reasoning was he does it because he can. So i just up and went and found a new server. but yeah they should make an item like a suicide pill thats unlootable you can only carry 1 and you can use it when tranqed die and respawn i dont care if they ad a penalty or even a timer before you can respawn from suicide but there should be some kind of option.
The thing here is that I'm not talking about being captured, I'm talking about being purely knocked out. If you've been captured then you can punch crap to damage yourself and kill yourself but if you're knocked out and they keep you knocked out then there is physically nothing you can do, ever.

i understand what you meant thats what happened to me they'd just keep tranqing my body or feeding it narcotics thats why i agree they need a suicide item that cant be taken from you for that reason.

the problem with this is even if i cant force feed you when knocked out a few whacks to the head with a club or a tranq dart and you will stay fully knocked out. they need some type of suicie option even if its a console command or whatever.
i do have to ask what you must have done to warrent being nocked out for a week. when i played hardcore, if i had to devote that much time to keeping you nocked out you would have to do somthing to warrent me and my tribes time.

I agree some tribes will abuse the cages, however. a Options to get out of it after 1min dose little to punish the level 1 naked who just gose around trolling people. longest i have kept some one was 1hour, with an option to opt out if you gathered stuff or ran my maze.

You would have to do somthing really really bad to warrent my time to Babbysit your body all day and night just to make sure you didnt get out. Half the time as soon as people found out they where caged They didnt bother to relog anyways.

rarely where the people who where caged due to trolling ever log back in to repeat the orginal offence.

Capturing is a valid part of the game, but I do not want it to 100% stuff up a players fun. So having an option so unofficial servers can limit it, would be cool and means admins do not need to monitor it. The more a server is self monitoring based on server settings, the better.

I like this idea. I agree that capturing is a unique part of ark's gameplay and I don't want it to go away. However, it's easy to abuse it and completely ruin somebody else's gameplay for a long period of time. The ppl that assume you must have done something bad to get captured must be very naive. Plenty of ppl grief others simply because they enjoy inflicting misery on them.

Well clearly you have no idea how hard keeping someone good as prisoner. Just hit everything you can and you will die. So they have to keep you cuffed but those wont last forever. You start to run out of food they have to knock you out and force feed you. It takes a lot of effort to keep someone as prisoner and alive at the same time. So if someone does that to you most likely you deserved it

read the FAQ says that taking and keeping priosners is an intended mechanic. And over a year ago devs settled the issue by saying they support the keeping of prisoners. Mechanic isn't gonna be removed.

Ok so I covered my basis and it can't be improper wording this time, I properly explained what I was talking about in the EDIT section. I'm referring to being knocked out with no counterplay to it. Others may have an issue with more long term things like being kept as a prisoner for a week, I can agree with that but have never had it happen to me.

On that note, large tribes that have members online round the clock anyway could easily spare time to ensure the prisoner stays knocked out and healthy. And the reasoning for it doesn't even have to be anything major, you're the only person who thinks people wouldn't do that just because they don't like someone/because they can.

However what i was referring to is short term stuff like getting knocked out for 30 minutes so you can't respawn and defend your base while they raid it, or you getting caught out on the beach then 2 idiots keep you knocked out for about an hour.

Devs already got your money and the FAQ did warn about this as a mechanic. Calling something you have been warned about for nearly 2 years a bad choice isn't really on them. They make a game they would want to play.
my pc runs this at 120 fps on lowest upgrade your pc nothing wrong with this game dont expect to play newer games on pieces of ♥♥♥♥ thy

Invest into Fortitude! When they have to be near you almost all the time to keep you unconscious - it becomes a chore. You say they keep you as a prisoner, i say you keep one of their members from doing anything productive at all. Which one do you think will end sooner?
lot of people seem to have missed the point of the original post - there IS a suicide pill in game already, it's called eating Organic Polymer. Unless you've pumed yourself with like 500+ health, that stuff's all but guaranteed to kill you. if you're worried about capture, carry a stack around on your hotbar.

BF1 isn't a good way to compare games. How about you stop complaining with bad arguements
