Achatina Farming Question
I'm thinking of setting up an Achatina Farm at my base for Cementing Paste.
I'm finding contradictory information about what they eat once tamed.
Will they eat just berries? I don't really fancy having to keep making Sweet Vegetable Cake all the time.
Anyone know for sure?

Wiki says they only eat Sweet Vegetable Cake
need cementing paste? you can steal hundres of those from the castoroids structures they build

Yeah, I don't know about the snails but cementing paste should be easy to get assuming no one is blocking beaver spawns.
I'll find them typically in rivers next to the ocean for a general idea of where they are.

Level them in food. It drops really slowly so it's not as if you're going to be making hundreds every day. I make a batch of about 20 once a week for my 3 and they're normally only down to about half food, if that, and once you get an industrial cookpot that's maybe 2 minutes work.
There's a handful of people who say they eat berries, and one or two who deny any mods are responsible, but they don't. They only eat cakes. But they only need to be fed every few days, even longer if you level them up in food. As long as you have a way to get some sap it's pretty easy to keep them, and while beaver dams provide good paste, passive generation is easier (if you have sap nearby).

Tame Achatina, level only food, then make and feed them cakes once a week

They only eat cakes it might seem wierd but i would recommend getting a high level for the higher food stat its a pain but worth it in long run since a lot less maintenance once leveled food a bit

Do not listen, beavers are practically worthless for paste. We have 19 snails.

Every now and again, maybe once a week or 2, I have to feed them, I make about 80 cakes and put them in a feeding trough and they're good for a while.
Every 100 minutes I have another 1900 paste, passively farmed whilst collecting metal, or building, or getting berries, or fighting.
This resulted recently in 4 vaults filled with paste (At the time I was also doing a massive extension to the base and still had overflow)

Or tame a high lvl frog and kill meganeura for Cementing Paste

Very many thanks for all the feedback.
I think I'll go for it - a snail farm appeals to me.
I'm located on the plateau at about 55,28 south west of the Volcano, so I'm right next to swamp, just across the river from redwoods, and have a nice little garden going. So making the cakes shouldn't be too much of a pain.
There are Beavers a stones throw north of me, but I feel bad destroying their dams :P
So I guess I'll be spending quite a few hours snail hunting tomorrow evening.
DarkFred - Frog is on my list as there are a lot of Dragon Flies where I am, but I have a hankering for the farm first.

Frogs used to be the best way to get cementing paste, but i find it hard now theyve added the Kaprosuchus (the annoying crocodile) that grabs you and runs for the hills......unless theres an easy way to counter these?

They will only eat cake.
However, the food drops slowly, and the cakes actually are not that hard to make.

3 snails are enough, that means 300 achatina cem every hour. Quickly, you can feed once a week with the vegi cakes, then once every two weeks. I would advise you not to tame levels too low, lower than 20, the higher they will be, the more they will have food points at the beginin.

This. Taming low levels seems appealing due to the time it takes, but you'll regret it later when you can't be bothered making vegetable cakes.

By the way, you should only really bother with snails if you have a Chemistry Bench, making stimulant in a mortat & pestle is just bleurgh.

Achatina eat only vegetable cakes. I have one and it produce so much CP that I don't need more.
