Do metal fence foundations matter?

If I have metal walls on top of a stone foundation, do dinos really attack the foundation? Would I be safe? Or do they actually attack the foundation, and metal foundations actually help?

Yes, fence foundations can be damaged and when they go, everything on top of them goes too.

That's why I love the S+ Mod and it's Fence Supports as opposed to foundations. Not only does it remove that annoying issue of the walls not being the same height at the top, but for opposing players/dinos that have to break through the walls first to get to the supports and then break those if they want to get through into the area beyond. It's almost as good as having two layers of walls. I wish the vanilla game had Fence Supports as an alternative to just Foundations.
