Where to find Dunkleostus

I'm thinking about taming a Dunkleostus but I don't know where they are generally located and how deep they tend to stay. Any info on this would be great!

they tend to be in deep ocean areas they are extremely common on center map but can be a bit rarer on island though it usually doesnt take much effort to find one just remember to bring a lot of tranq arrows with you they've got good armor and high torpor so they arent easy to knock out

I'm talkin location. North,south,east,west. Do they stay in caves or are they at the far out edges of the map because I've never seen one out traveling through the water.

Thanks for the other info though. I wasn't keeping in mind that they have a armored head.

still havent said which map your on doesnt matter though they can spawn anywhere they just stick to the deeper waters so just go down until can see the ocean floor then keep searching till bump into one if want more specific info just check spawn maps on wiki also just so you know it doesnt matter where you shoot it the damage reduction is the same http://ark.gamepedia.com/Dunkleosteus

Depends on what map you're on. Center they are all over the freaking place. Island they can be a little hard to find. I've found them around herbivore island. If you go from herbivore island and head towards the snow bio opposite of carno island (hope that makes sense). You can run into a few of them on the way. Good luck finding a high lvl one on the island though. I could never find one. Wasn't until I went to the center map I was taming 135's and 145's.

Found mine nearish red obelisk. Was deep off the semi island right there. (Just south east of the obelisk if I remember my map right, been caught up in SE so not sure)

They seem to me to stay deeper than plessies, but don't quote me on that.
