Where to find Mesopithecus

I want to tame a Mesopithecus, but I haven't been able to find them around the whole Island map. I caught one and I accidentally killed it on the way back home. Anyone know of good areas or spawn locations to go and grab a monkey?

They like the southeastern portion of the map most.

They are small and rare. Kinda just have to come upon them randomly

S, SE on the beach (the island map).. i've seen some around there, thought they might be hard to find if they are in the bushes.

Fly low or use a ground mount and listen. They make a distinctive sound chittering sound. You'll hear them well before you see them in the bushes. I generally find them in grassy areas or along the edge of forests. They are pretty much everywhere... even in the great white north. One good spot is the grassy area across the river from the North West corner of the redwoods. Near the large river pool with the rock in the middle.

Thanks guys! I finally got one! I didn't know this but it will open other tribe's doors so you can break in and and steal stuff from anyone with a thatch or wooden door. Really fun for messing around with the new survivors!
