Active defense (aka turret) questions
I'm pretty new in PVP and got the job to build our base defense. I'm looking for some tips regarding turret placement and usage.

1. Once we can build as many auto turrets as we want (we are playing on a 4x ratio server), does it have any benefit to place X-plants (even the armored one) as well or they are totally useless once we got the auto turrets?

2. Is there any benefit to use other distance setting as high (we are living in a remote area, so there is no chance that someone innocent get hurt :) )

3. I've heard (not seen yet) that speedy pteras can easily avoid and even destroy auto turrets without getting hurt. Is there any building trick against it? (again I heard thats some pike walls between the turrets can be useful, but found no video or guide on it)

Any other trick/tip what is more than "have as much turrets as you can on catwalks to have your base look like a mutated hedgehog" is welcomed :)

(personal message: no Bobi, its not against you, you and your lovely pteras are welcomed on my base anytime - just like Dörcsi the dragon :) )

Plants x attacks slow down targets, so it'll be a nice combo
Turrets will stop new players attacking you but any one who knows all the tricks will raid you even if you have 1000 turrets, sadly they will only slow down a raid.

1) Place some Plant X's to slow down some targets so your autoturrets can shoot it more.

2) Setting Turret range depends on your base location, but if you set it to Low or Medium you can lure people with Turtles/Doedics or Golems that want to drain your bullets closer to your base so you can attack them with a defending Dino like a Lightning Wyvern or a Fast Rex or shoot them with guns and ♥♥♥♥.

3) You were pertaining to the Ptera Bombs, where people attach C4 to Pteranadons and dive bomb bases to destroy their turrets, that does not work anymore, you can't attach C4 to flyers anymore. But people can still attach C4 to land dinos like Gallimimus and try to run towards your base and explode it.

There is no trick to building Turrets, it's just the more the merrier!

Turrets alone does not provide 100% protection, they only slow down an enemy raider, it's about who's got the most asset on defense or offense, if you are online defending Turrets will help a lot and can repel most attackers. . . But if you are being raided offline, then it's only a matter of time before your base falls.

as for the range question, Having an happy mix of range can help with getting rids of rockets while higher ranges turrets are being soaked / distracted.

If you have 40 on high someone can come in with a dino built to soak (bronto, paracer, giga, golem, turtle whatever they feel like using), have all 40 turrets fire on it then just rocket in the base while the turrets are distracted.
on the other hand if you have 20 turrets on high, 10 on medium and 10 on low instead then while half the turrets would be soaked, the remaining 20 (or 10 if they move closer) would still be free to fire at rockets.

put some turrets on wild only and low range so it will only fire the rockets. Like jey said never leave all turrets on the same range. Use spikes, plants and traps too with the cover of the turrets they are great.

I didnt refer the C4 stuff, but some speed pumped pteras which are soo fast that autoturrets cannot hit them (Xplant even worse from this prospective, as it leads the target, so even a slow ptera can dodge it).

I wonder if autoturrets can be dodged (again, I didnt see it just heard the rumour of 300%+ speedy pteras)

Dinosaurs can't damage Turrets so Pteras are hardly any threat, even if the turrets can't hit them. . . but I already tested this on my server with a Ptera with 350% movespeed and turrets can still hit it. . .

Only Turrets that has a 2 second warning of course won't fire because the ptera would be out of its range when the 2 second warning ends.

Oh, thank you for doing the experiment, looks like I was misled by some "clever" folks... so no warning setting on turrets then :D

Do spikes block the turrets field of fire? So can the enemy hide behind of MY spikes from the turrets?
