Should I buy Scorched Earth?
after several months I stopped being mad about early access DLC and I want to buy SE now like a hypocrite because it looks cool as ♥♥♥♥ (and because it's cheaper than conan exiles)

but the question is, how well does SE run? does it run better or worse than the island/center? is it fun? does it still get updates or did they forget about it?

I hear it's harder than normal ark which sounds cool

So your input into how well the dlc runs and how much gameplay is added by the dlc is..... zero.

which mod maps are those? i have a ton of maps already but none of them are deserts
There are maps that feature desert biomes, I don't recall seeing a full desert map, which is what I like about SE, a full desert. I like restricting the wild SE dinos to just that map.

Excited Kangaroo has been adding all Scorched Earth dino's to Valhalla except for death worm and wyvern (issues with wyvern breeding mechanic and deathworm traveling under the world)

He is working on them tho

I played it on PvE servers and got 600 hours out of it and would go back one day. Even though the difficulty has been reduced now, it is still a good challenge.

For your first game, try not to transfer dinos from other maps as it will just make the map easier and ruin the fun. At least wait until you are well established.

LOL ok mate, you have SE and still suggest to play mods instead of the actual DLC

I know it was hard, like I said, not meant for noobs.

lol, noobs, LMAO NOOBS! AHAHAHHAHAHA.... oh boy, thanks, I needed that.

Yeah. Scorched Earth sucks, and I wouldn't recommend anyone buy it, if not for crap content then for the obligatory morality against "pre-release" paid content. With mods you can get the exact same content, with the exception of the exact same map, for FREE... without a questionably motivated price tag of 20 outrageous dollars for a map for a broken game that has been in Alpha for two years with no sign of it hitting beta any time in the near or distant future, let alone an actual release, and a development team that refuses to fix actual issues with the game.
Wow, try to bring the saltiness down like ten thousand notches.

If i doesn't bother you to pay 20$, yeah of course. I have a lot of fun. It's different and I like the desert universe (I thought first it will be on The Island... But whatever). And I'm playing solo with the same stats (except for the respawn period (6), the day/night (2.5/0.5, lol), and maybe I will change the reproduction / breeding system too). And, the best part, contents still added and updated.

If you have enjoyed any other map then you will probably enjoy this. So from a purely entertainment standpoint, I'd say yes buy it.

Be forewarned, it is a bit more challenging to survive in SE, but it gets easier after a while.

it doesn't make sense to add a desert to a tropical island, though it makes more sense to add a desert to the center somewhere

makes sense, a full desert runs the risk of coming off as a cheap rip off of SE

He is working on them tho

how do desert dinos work on a snow map?

I loved the DLC, but it all depends on whether you think it is worth the price tag and whether you like the experience as a whole. For example I dislike seeing things like wyverns and rock golems naturally spawn on maps like The Center or The Island, but I do like going on hunting trips for them and experience a full desert map. In that sense, the DLC worked for me. I dislike seeing a map ala Minecraft (as in, walk over here, snow. Walk over here, desert. Walk over here, jungle. Some biomes might work well together (forests, redwood and beaches) but some just don't fit there for my taste. If I want to go to a harsh barren desert, I rather it be somewhere else, separate from the tropical theme of the main map.

I agree, it doesn't make any sense for the swamp and the snow biome to be near each other on the center imo but they kind of are, I don't think the island has that problem though

Has a desert biome. Does not have SE weather effects

The map sucks, i prefer playing on center with se mod where i can get all dinos from SE and enjoy my fav map.

Your inability to understand game development and your laziness to not even educate yourself on why the DLC was released just makes your saltiness that much more laughable especially since you told me to do my research.

That aside, the OP is asking about what the DLC is like, not about your personal feelings on how the game is being developed but your reply clearly demonstrates that you don't own the DLC and want to justify this decision by trashing it and pushing mods in its place.

I dont understand how SE sucks unless you had issues with the difficulty. It had interesting taming techniques such as a rock ele and got a lot of people into breeding via the Wyvern. The weather effects made it a brutal place at times, especially early game. New items, new building material, new dinos, new map.

You have yet to provide a justificaiton as to why the DLC sucks, all you seem to have so far is a fascination with monkey balls and insulting anyone that challenges your ridiculous posts.

Depends. For me, I though they will had another island or biome remplacement, like snow/swamp/redwood. But please, all this game is a non-sense, so :P I've read in an ARK digest that they want to change both maps.
