Should I buy Scorched Earth?
after several months I stopped being mad about early access DLC and I want to buy SE now like a hypocrite because it looks cool as ♥♥♥♥ (and because it's cheaper than conan exiles)

but the question is, how well does SE run? does it run better or worse than the island/center? is it fun? does it still get updates or did they forget about it?

I hear it's harder than normal ark which sounds cool

Pve or pvp

Reason i say that is .... for just pve i would say no. Its not. For pvp or pvpve however then yes it is.

Just my opinion

I'm a pve player and after about 5hrs I was bored with it...

The map just didn't have enough variations to it. Imagine living on carno island with dragons... There ya go

If it is a challenge to die till lvl x that you can build a adobestructure, for me, no.............

don't need to buy it, just keep letting the devs keep on "updating" this pile of slag, wont be long till every pc that tries to run the game is a smouldering bon fire...

Short answer: not now.

Long answer. Everything(dinos items etc) can be accessed via others on official server clusters and on unofficial servers that are employing mods that have such (tabula rasa mod for example or volcano modded map). Only thing you thus are truly paying 20 bucks for is the map and the maps mechanics itself.

Thus wait until there is a big sale to get. You just missed it for less than 10 bucks when conan exiles was launched to marketingly mitigate it. Because of that, expect that the next major steam sale or some other similar situation that arises that SE will be similarly or even more so discounted.

oh yes, amazing map, and had lot of fun

I think I'll check and see if I see any good servers and keep an eye on them to decide if I should buy SE or not

no need to buy it if there aren't any servers that look good.

If SE is still on sale, yes. You dont get the map with mods and the map is a lot of fun.

It's a harsher environment. I like the full desert map and the environment of it. I like cross-traveling to bring back tames (own a server but don't use any mods that add them in) as sort of "exploration" expeditions. It's a different feel, if you like how the map looks, get it. If not, don't. Everything but the map is accessible for everyone without buying it.

I enjoyed and still enjoy it.

Ignore people that tell you get mods instead. I dont know how anyone can pass judgement on the DLC without even owning it and just running mods. Mods don't provide the map which is where the difficulty comes from.

I played it on PvE servers and got 600 hours out of it and would go back one day. Even though the difficulty has been reduced now, it is still a good challenge.

For your first game, try not to transfer dinos from other maps as it will just make the map easier and ruin the fun. At least wait until you are well established.

Some people do have it, like me, and still suggest mods, like me. There are indeed mods that offer maps very similar to SE, maybe try some research you fanboy.

which mod maps are those? i have a ton of maps already but none of them are deserts

I also would say a Hell No to buying this game and expansion due to one offense. No Paid DLC in games that are in Aplha Devlopement Period. You should release free content until your full release.
