non dedicated server lagging bad
Since the last few patches my non ded server is unplayable. Lagging and freezing horribly. I do have mods, so not sure if that is the issue since all the updates. I only have 2 of us on it. It was fine up to today. Anyone else notice anything like this?

Thing is it could be your Internet or your hardware.

What are your pc specs and your download/upload speed?

I am having the same issue, except I am fine. My friend has the issue. Its in ANY multiplayer server he joins, unofficial or official.

Reasons:

1. You're running it on a machine not really capable of handling it. Low ram, not on ssd, etc.

2. Your mods. If you're using very out of date mods or you're using mods that are not necessarily meant to interact together. Just because the mod is on its "current" "up to date" version doesnt mean its a good mod if the last time it was actually updated was back in 2015 for example(and yes there are people who try to put bad mods like that on their servers.

3. The map. The center at the moment is a mess with issues for a multide of reasons including causing more work for comps/servers over other theisland.

Same issues but I have it on all servers and I have no mods.

Not the same thing. I'm willing to bet you've a gpu below a 900 series and below 12mb ram and or on an i5

I have a GTX 960, i56600k, and 16GB of ram. I can take a screen shot of nVidia control panel if you have trust issues.

Trust me, my PC isn't the problem. Think of something else.

Actually 960 on i5 with 16gb ram is right on the line with how they've been adding things to the game. If you want to test things more, turn off true sky/weather settings, then drop the rest of the settings when starting 1 notch. If you still have issues on other servers, drop it another notch until you got things working smoothly.

Alternatively, if its not working out with that either then go to your steam library and right click ark and select properties, then local files tab and verify cache integrity. You may have a bad file that needs redownloading.

If that doesn't improve things then check to see if your having lag issues connecting to other server based games in different locations to see if your provider is making issues or if there is a throttle happening(doubt this is the case).

One last thing. If you're attempting to play on servers with heavy populations and very large bases with mall sized parkinglots of dinos, expect fps drops to nothing and lag like no tomorrow, especially on servers on slices on inferior hardware.

Yeah I understand a 960 isn't the best card out. I have dropped the settings, all the way down. It runs like this on my friends undedicated and on official servers, regardless of the amount of people. I was fine up till the Tek tier update, I have reinstalled the game as well. Thanks for your continued help, I hope you have some more ideas. But sadly I have tried pretty much everything you have said... Also, this happeens on every server I have tried (10 at least).
