if Ark were realistic, what's the largest creature a man in flak armor with a sword and shield could take out 1v1?
lets say Ark gave our characters realistic capabilities, what do you think the largest dino a man in steel plate armor with a steel sword and steel shield could take on by himself? a lowly dilo? a fearsome raptor? a terrifying T-rex? a mighty giga?

considering that you need special guns to hunt an elephant I'd assume anything larger than an elephant would be far out of his range, so I'm going to go with something small to mid sized like a carno or therizino

EDIT2:
new evidence reveals that basically anything carno sized or larger could chew through the armor with ease
according to wikipedia:
"This interpretation was questioned by François Therrien and colleagues (2005), who found that the biting force of Carnotaurus was twice as high as that of the American alligator, which may have the strongest bite of any living tetrapod."

and according to these guys:

http://animals.mom.me/bites-harder-crocodile-shark-11037.html

and sharks have been known to bite through steel things before, so it's safe to say that a carno is something like 6x the force required to go through the armor (double the crocodile which is triple the shark which is enough to go through steel)

Realistically? Probably a raptor.

hmmm fair guess, why not something bigger?

the realistic capability of a man is not limited to sword and shield. it probably doesnt need any weapon.

Anything bigger could throw you, crush you, or chomp through your armor.

There are some exceptions, however. Most fliers wouldn't really be able to do anything to you.

I would say Carno, Megalosaurus, and Baryonyx are the upper tier of what a human could reasonably be expected to kill. And even then they would have to have skill, steel willpower, and a bit of luck. Animals are powerful things and even dogs can dispatch of us without much trouble.

That said, wearing plate armor and wielding weapons makes quite a difference...

All any of those 3 would have to do is knock you down and step on you.

Not with a Carno. A Carno would crush your chest in one bite, armor or no armor. So would a Bary.

A carno MIGHT not. They're believed to have very weak bite-force relative to their size.

Lack of mobility in such flak plus creatures larger than that just having the sheer impact force and squish factor to basically kill em one way or the other.

The odd thing is though, a raptor and anything smaller would be a joke, but anything bigger and you wouldn't stand a chance.

Well, aside from a carbonemys, which I forgot about. All you have to do is get on its back.

In ancient rome there was a Gladiator, forgot his name now, anyway he killed all kinds of animals like it was nobodys business. Tigers, Lions, you name, even an elephant if I recall right. He did not have plate armor or steel swords, just some gladiator armor (half naked basically) and spears, shields and swords from that era. He was the most famous among the type of Gladiators who fought animals. Dammit still can't remember his name. I used to know this very detailed. Google it.

Now, a man in plate armor and steel swords. Hmm. I would guess big raptors or maaaybe a Carno. Reason I wouldn't go higher than a Carno is because of weight and pressure etc. anything bigger than a Carno could crush you if it stepped on you even if you wear plate armor. Those kinds of dinosaurs are fast and accurate in the way they move about and bite you, not clunky like an elephant. And the bite from something like a T-rex would bend or go through plate armor and either crush or puncture you.
Trespasser Feb 3, 2017 @ 7:31pm
If you could manage to use the sword to cripple the dinosaur, you could possibly survive a larger animal. Although we don't know how thick and hard to pierce a larger dinosaur's skin would be.
Night Feb 3, 2017 @ 7:31pm
Oh btw, a great white shark of today would also kill you if it bit you, even if you wear plate armor. so there is that.
Glizzler Feb 3, 2017 @ 7:32pm
If it can dent your armor, it can kill you. Its safe to assume that even a raptor could do that running and full force. With a strong sword, a human could kill things like a carno, but it would have an easier time killing you. I think it comes down to who gets the first hit, providing that creature is at least raptor sized.
