Ark needs a mod manager !
Ok, first down kill me if there is one already ^^ but i em talking about official mod manager build-in the game! i hate using 3de party software, you NEVER know if you can fully trust it!
this said, i mean by manager this:
i'm one of the many players who test and load many many many mods from the workshop, yet when you click the mod off this game or steam does not remove the files, there still on you HD, well at-least on my PC. i monticed this because i got a popup telling me my HD was full ?! then i looked at ark folder 120+ GB :D and only 70ish for the game it self, so i looked deeper and see that the mods folder had old mod files i did not used anymore...

so please steam or devs, make it so when someone clicks a mod off you remove set mod from drive or atleast give an option to clean out the mod... yea give option don't do it automaticly. it takes houres to go in by hand and delete all the folders/file of mods you don't want any more!

Thanks for reading and don't forget, if you don't have anything to say on topic, please don't say anything at all. Thx

WTF are you talking about; When you go to the workshop in the steam client, and unsubscribe from a mod it removes it. As far as 3RD Party software, how is that at the fault of Steam or the Devs because that software does not removing files? That 3RD party garbage you are referring to doesn't subscribe/unsubscribe you from mods in the workshop. It just downloads them, and uploads them to the servers (or just downloads them if you are running single player/non-dedi.)

Direct your ignorance at the person that made the Software.. as its their problem

you clearly never took the time to see inside the mod folder did you! yes the mod is "gone" in your list, but the mod files have some left over sh!t on your drive and if you like me, installing and testing like every mod you might like them left overs build up hd space. well again atleast on my end! if this is not normal and assuming from your sharming reply it is not. so its a bug then, great why do i always have them pesky bugs :/

oh and i don't use 3de party software because i don't trust them, just said about it so poeple don't reply use this "x" 3de party manager...

but i can see from your frustration i struck a nerv inside you. sorry that my post has this effect, not my fault this is not normal, have only one game i use workshop mods on so had no idea that they should have bin (completely) removed from drive.
Mmn.

This is actually a design oversight, the result of improper workshop integration. It's a bit of a slap dash approach, that copies mods from the workshop files, into the mods folder.

This is where servers also download their mods, (so if you connect to a server that pushes mods down to you, you could have a bunch of modfiles that you never even subscribed to on the workshop.)

So less so much of a mod manager, and moreso a cleaner integration with workshop (though then you have the other issue where people might intentionally use an out of date or customised mod on their own server and be unable to deploy it.)

Whatever way you look at it, the mod system does need a bit of cleaning up. You still cannot change load order when setting up singple player, despite that up arrow next to the mods implying that you should be able to move them up the list.

It's rather annoying having to wipe the entire stack because you forgot to put something at the top that needs to be at the top, and start over.

Douche I'm inside the mod folder all the time; Since I actual make mods.. but no, never seen the folder. I have no issues with other mods being removed when I unsubscribe from them WITHIN the Steam Client..

Secondary mod folder. Mods are copied here. They are not removed when unsubscribing on the workshop.

I too wish ark had a nexus mod manager version or similar fo mods. for one ark doesn't even entertain helping you i you have even one mod installed official or non official. As stated by him it does not clean up the folders leaving a mess that is of epic proportions. if any mod updates it doesn't get updated in gameusersettings.ini therefore ark wont load at all itll freeze on primalbp every time. deleting active mods in settings makes the list refresh. The steam mods manager ark uses is horrific and always has been hence nexus popularity on skyrim. It allowed you as a user to shut off auto updates on ark and update mods as you wish not as ark or the mod author wishes making the experience stable. modding ark even with official mods is a gamble to get ark to run twice the same. My suggestion is let mods be mods and stop endorsing them just so you can add their code to base in your laziness.

Hate to inform you my guy, but unsubscribing from a mod does NOT uninstall it from your HDD... You have to manually go in and remove it from 2 separate locations for it to be gone from your system. Also...chill out. Dude was proposing an idea and you decided it was a perfect opportunity to swoop in and try to flex your knowledge and make someone feel worse than you do when you accidentally catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror. Next time, check your facts and then do yourself and everyone else a favor and STFU. (I realize this is from '17, but I would venture to guess you're still a miserable POS) *kisses*

wait.. your mods are saved in 2 locations..... why is that?

i know about
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Content\Mods

so.... where is this other spot?

=====

sidenote... sometimes a 2yr or 5yr old thread still has a use ;o)

but seriously... is there / what is this second location?
guig Nov 21, 2020 @ 3:09am
steamapps\workshop\content\346110 (the number is the tag of the game, you shall one file per game installed on your computer but most will be empty if no mods on them)

it is also worth noting that this second file don't store dlc's for ark, only mods.

if you want to clean it up, remove mods with the id missing compared to the list you have suscribed on steam. if not mentionned on mod page, id number is the last digits of that mod web adress. anyway don't delete the all file.

It's really the annoyance of having to unsub every mod to put a mod that requires to be up on the top of the mod list to the top of the mod list that gets me -- unless there's another way?

Your config ini files have the mods to load config. You can simply change the order of the Ids
