What happens if you dont have what a baby dino needs for imprint?
Does it just move onto the next Imprint phase?

you dont get imprint bonus, thats all

You are stuck on that imprint until the baby gets it.

your imprint will stay the same until you get the item. luckily you will not lose the bonus you already have, but you also won't gain anymore until you finish the imprint it asks for.

I have never understood the point of having a baby ask for a kibble other than the preferred kibble for the species, so one can anticipate what they will need for imprinting a specific creature.

just get it so you have access to all kibble critters then will never miss out on a imprint isnt actually that hard to do you only need 2 low level versions of each dino that are boosted by a oviraptor not going to use the eggs regularly so no point getting more done it solo on my server and now im only one on server that dont have to worry about imprints

there's in wiki an list of kibbles that baby might ask for imprints.

Babies actually only ask for certain kibbles, so you dont even need "all" the egg layers/kibble to 100% imprint babies.

My friends and I set up a kibble farm just for imprinting babies. All the dinos you need are fairly easy to get/find.

The list of dinos of kibble they ask for are -

Ankylo
Carbonemys
Dilo
Dimetrodon
Dimorph
Dodo
Gallimimus
Lystrosaurus
Pachy
Parasaur
Pteranodon
Raptor
Stego
Terror Bird
Trike

I just think the variability of what they want for each imprint, whether it be a walk, cuddle, or kibble, is more than enough without adding random kibble on top of it. If I had ARK, I wouldn't even bother with imprinting, because the current implementation is too grindy in general.

The imprinting is actually worth it, and doesnt take much time to gather a few low lvl dinos for eggs. Honestly would just need one female/one male for kibble since babies just ask for one at a time. Sometimes I raise a babie and it just wants walks/cuddles.

For imprinting being worth it, I was having 8800 HP baby rex born. When 100% imprinted the HP alone was going as high as 13000 on them not counting all the bonuses in the other stats they got along with the imprinting.

fair point but one thing to consider is they may be intending to add all kibbles eventually and have been waiting for all egg layers to be in before doing so that way they only need to do the job once last batch of dinos is out in next patch might not be long before they go through the process

If im not mistaken, I read somewhere on a Q&A when imprinting first came out they would not being adding "every" kibble just for the fact some kibble is hard to stock up on (titanboa) I can see them adding maybe a few more to the list but its been stated the babies would not be asking for every kibble available.

yeah can see them leaving stuff like quetzal kibble out probably be all the small to mid sized creatures is worth collecting them though so if see a max level tame you want can just grab stuff and tame it pretty handy for trading to :)

I am just not impressed with the taming and breeding systems on default settings, and imprinting is way too time consuming due to the frequency of intervals on default settings. There used to be a time I had the time to do that much grinding, but now I know that is insane.
