I thought boomerang is a knock out weapon....
Why are all the dinos I attack with boomerang today dying? Accidentally killed a lvl 135 Morella, and similar lvl parasaurs and kangaroos.

I didn't hit them with any other weapon and they hadn't been attacked by any dinos. No idea why they are dying :(

How are you hitting them. if you use melee thats why, you have to throw it.

it is also based on there level high level dinos might not do so well with boomerang also make sure you only hit them in the head any other spot its more damage then torper boomerrang is really only good for dinos 50 and under high up need narc arrows

Slingshot also really good just try to pin them and shoot for the head if they get really bloody then your not aimming right or there too high a lvl for that weapon type

Surprisingly few animals actually have a headshot multiplier, and torpor scales with damage. Different weapons have different ratios though. Boomerang does more damage for torpor than tranq arrows, which do more damage than tranq darts for the same amount of torpor. When one has a too high risk of death, another is needed. taming calculators often include knockout weapons and their death chance, if any.

actually tranq darts give more torpor then arrows but the dps makes it where arrows are better in some situations

Melee works... I do it all the time with jerboa. I do one hit KO with melee than the usual 2 throwing it.

Something like http://www.dododex.com/ helps
When you enter a dino and its level, it tells you the chance of killing a dino instead of knocking it out base on every 'knock out weapon' type.

The boomerang is supposed to be an early game knock-out weapon to help get your first dinos and such. Not something to use on high level ones. Get tranq arrows or darts...

You can always increase your speed and club a parasaur like i did. Either that or find a dino that is trapped.
