Unlimited host range on undedicated servers? Help needed
Is there anyway to have an unlimited host range on undedicated servers? The range there is now is really low and I would like for it to be unlimited. Anyway to change that in the .ini files

i do not believe that can be done as that is what dedicated servers are for.

Ark server manager makes it very easy to configure a dedicated server though so you might want to look into doing that. If you want it as a LAN server just don't forward the ports in the internet router, only foward the ports in your local pc firewall.

Maaan that seams complicated! :D - is it free to run a dedicated server if I want to go through the whole set up process?

but I found this maybe it helps

ListenServerTetherDistanceMultiplier=100.000000

yes it is free and there is no tether distances on dedicated servers. it may seem overwhelming at first but it's not hard at all. in ark server manager the settings are all on ark defaults at first so you don't need to go changing a bunch of settings unless you want to.

Well I have a lot of settings changed on the undedicated one so :D
If i setup my own server.. will the progress i made on the undedicated one be lost?

Yeah so thats a downside.. i think i try the *.ini linie first.. Also not sure how to set the settings in a dedicated server which i have now.. if it does not keep the stuff i have in my *ini file then its no good :D

you can copy the saved folder from your non dedicated server to the new dedicated server but it will take some doing. as you will first need to start the new server and create a character. then stop the new server and copy you saved files over.

path to single player \ non dedicated server saved game locaion.
\steam\ steamapps\ common\ ark\ shootergame\ saved\ savedarkslocal

path to saves in dediacted server
\(install loaction of server shown in ark server manager)\ servers \ shootergamne\ saved \savedarks

now to make the files work. the world will work from start but your character will need to be renamed as the single player \ non dedicated server character name will be LocalPlayer.arkprofile and needs to be renamed to what ever your new character is called on the dedicated server (eg. 76561197996019578.arkprofile)

Why not just put in a high value on your Non-Dedicated Host Tether Distance before you lauch? The slider only goes up to 3.0, but you can type in your own values. I put mine at 5000 which allows us to fly all over the map.
