Are you sure it isn't the screaming prairie dog?

They are ambient(meaning not tied to any specific creatures lurking about and akin to the seagull ambient sounds we've had for almost 2 years around the coastlines.

I've never heard screaming yet. Where is it at? I hear wolves/coyotes howling, owls hooting, whippoorwill's calling. But nothing resembling a scream

I hear it all the time at Weathertop. (West zone 1). I go at the edge of the cliff kind of overlooking the swamps and I hear it at night. Kind of like a man screaming.

actually. the screams you hear are not from the wildlife. the screams you hear are coming from various other humans that have been air dropped onto the island to perform maintenance on the ruins scattered around. yes, the explorers were quite skilled in making their little camps to leave their journals; but natural antiquity and preservation is important.

the screams, usually come from the air when the people are plummeting, trying to deploy their parachute; they are also abundant in noise when they get attacked by troodons that circle around the ruins for an easy meal.

not canonical lore, but if you believe it youll get an xp boost for thirty seconds!

Ya, I hear it at night in the redwoods. They also added a whipoorwill noise. I like it, but the screaming not so much.
